Chapter 112 Exposed
The hotel lobby was relatively quiet, with only a few guests walking around. Denise, Lyka, and Enferno had gathered in the hotel restaurant for a private meeting, their conversation centered around a topic that was far from ordinary. As they spoke, Enferno couldn't help but feel grateful for the lack of other guests, who would surely have raised eyebrows at their weird discussion.
Lyka was the one in charge of handling the intel part of their mission, and Denise had some pressing questions for her.
"Did you receive any new information from HQ?" she asked, her tone sharp and direct. She wanted to complete this mission as soon as possible.
Lyka nodded and began to share the intel she had received.
"According to them, the reading came from a mutated Creature," she said, her voice steady.
"Mutated Creature? That's unexpected. These creatures only appear when there's a sudden surge of supernatural/radioactive energy in one location. We have no information that Puerto Rico has any such spots," Enferno raised his eyebrows. He had a lot of experience dealing with this type of creatures.
Mutated creatures were weaker than their natural counterparts, but they tended to cause more chaos as they were often normal animals or humans who suddenly turned due to supernatural or radioactive energies overriding their genes, and turning them into mindless beast. These creatures are savaged who's only purposed was to destroy and kill.
"Do you have a photo ?" Denise asked to get a better grasp of their target.
"This was the latest one "Lyka gave her the tablet.
Denise looked at it and saw an image of a giant creature resembling a fish but with two sets of feet. Its scales were made of blue crystals that shone as though it illuminated from within.
"How the hell did we miss this one?" Denise gritted her teeth, her frustration increasing. Mutated creatures like this were not smart enough to hide their traces, so it should have been detected a long time ago. But why did their satellite only detect it now? From the looks of it, this one seemed to be quite old already.
"We don't know how it slipped past us, but our intel suggests that there was a sudden seismic reading from an infamous cave on the island. After that, this creature appeared near the shoreline and killed some tourists. We've already taken care of the press and spun it as a shark attack,"
"Cave?" Denise mind raced as she absorbed the new information . As the team leader, she knew she had to act quickly and formulate a plan. Failure was not an option, not after what happened to George. She felt the weight of responsibility on her shoulders, and she was determined not to let her team down again.
"We need to visit that cave first. It might be a mutated creature, but we can't ignore the possibility that it could be something more. Besides, it's our mission to take down that abomination and prevent any further deaths," she declared, her tone serious and commanding.
Enferno nodded in agreement.
"I agree,"Lyka said firmly and without hesitation. "I don't trust those people from the Vatican. They're only here for their own benefit, and they won't care about this place since it's not within their territory." she knew all too well that the Vatican's priorities lie with their own interest, and that they would abandon the mission if it did not align with those interests.
"Lets go" Denise stood up and prepared to leave, but her attention was suddenly caught by a figure in her peripheral vision.
"Vincent?" she muttered to herself, her heart racing. The man had a striking resemblance to her sister's friend .
"But I thought he died?" she questioned herself, unable to shake the feeling of familiarity. She had confirmed with the agency that he had already passed away due to complications.
"I need to make sure " To ease her doubts, she utilized her supernatural senses, and after a moment of concentration, she determined that the man was, in fact, human.
"He just looks like him," she murmured to herself, shaking her head to dismiss the thought of Vincent. She needed to focus on the mission at hand and not be distracted by such trivial matters.
"Do you know him?" Lyka asked, noticing the sudden shift in Denise's expression.
eaglesnovɐ1,сoМ "Nah, he just looks like someone I knew," she replied before turning away.
Lyka couldn't help but steal a glance at the man in question. She had to admit that he was very handsome; no, very handsome was an understatement in her opinion.
"Maybe she likes him?" she muttered to herself, entertaining the idea. But as she thought about Denise's personality, she shook her head, dismissing the notion.

Vincent let out a sigh of relief, glad that he had managed to avoid being caught by Denise. It was a stroke of luck that his medallion had somehow masked his aura, making it difficult for her to detect him. Even with his heightened senses, he had felt a moment of panic as he sensed her using her spell. But then he felt a strange sensation coming out of his chest, as if a barrier had formed around him, shielding him from her detection.
His thoughts raced as he tried to make sense of what had happened. He had heard from Evangeline of witches who could use spells to sense the presence of others, but he had never experienced it firsthand. It was clear that Denise was a powerful witch, and he would have to be careful if he wanted to avoid her attention in the future.
But what compelled him to came here and take the risk of being detected was the opportunity to eavesdrop on their conversation.
"Mutated creature?" he muttered to himself, the words echoing in his mind. He had heard the group discussing it.
As he processed the information, he thought back to the cave where he had found the fragment of his mysterious medallion. It seemed likely that the creature had escaped from the same cave, and he couldn't help but wonder if there was a connection.
"I need to contact Evangeline about this," he muttered under his breath. Vincent knew he had completed his mission and didn't want to risk exposing himself any further.
He wasn't some protagonist in a super hero novel who mindlessly threw himself into danger with no regard for his safety. Unlike those characters, he had no plot armor to rely on, so it was better to be on the side of caution. The number of times he had almost died could already be counted on one hand.
As he made his way out of the lobby, Vincent couldn't help but feel a twinge of pity for the victims of the creature's attack. However, he knew that Denise and her team were more than capable of handling the situation, so he saw no need to take any unnecessary risks
Ring Ring Ring .
Vincent's phone suddenly rang, jolting him out of his thoughts. He quickly answered it, recognizing the caller ID.
"Evangeline, did you receive my message?" he asked in a serious tone.
"Alright , so I need to rendezvous with Isabella tonight?" he repeated.
Click!
Vincent dropped the call after memorizing her instructions. Evangeline had just handed him a crucial mission, and it had to be executed tonight.
"I did not expect that my reunion with her will be like this " he sighed.
