''You'' the old man was livid. He raised his hand to hit him and Ronald's mother, Bridget rushed inside and started pleading.

''Father, please forgive him. He is sorry, I will talk to him'' Bridget said and pulled Ronald up.

''Mother, what are you doing?'' Ronald asked his mother. He couldn't understand how the woman could still stay in that house when his grandfather and uncles didn't like her much. Even his own father didn't love her anymore.

''Ronny, stop making father angry''

''No, you stop doing this mom. Are you not tired from pretending to be happy in this house? Well I am. Listen to me, grandfather. If you want, go ahead and plan the marriage, but know this. the groom wouldn't be me that day. I am not marrying that slut. I would have before I found out she is fucking my father. You want me to marry her and then she can continue to fuck my father and lay next to me every night? No, that is never going to happen''

''That woman you are running around with every day; I heard she is just a small time waitress? What can she give you?'' the old man asked.

''True love, peace and happiness. She is someone who won't ever cheat or me or sleep with my father. Kristine is different from Angela''

''Should I let your father test her then?'' the old man asked daringly.

''What?''

''If she can reject your father's charms, then I might think about cancelling the marriage. Remember what happened a year ago? You said the same thing about that woman and in the end she left you for your father. It isn't just Angela who finds your father more attractive and exuberant than you? Are you sure that woman is really different?''

''Grandfather, that's enough'' Peter entered the study room. He was the eldest of the three sons and Ronald's elder brother, the only one who supported him in the family.

''Peter, stay out of this'' the old man said furiously.

''No, I won't. How many times are you going to break Ronald down? You are the reason why he refused to take over the family business and relocated. Angela is a lose woman and even I won't allow my younger brother to marry her''

''Peter, send Ronny out and stop challenging father. He is doing it for the family's good''

''For the family's good? This is more for his own good, mom. How could you still say this after what he did to you? He was the main reason why you and father separated. He stopped you from getting married again just because he doesn't want people to know the kind of person his son is. I am not doing this anymore. Remove my name from the family register. If you send people to my woman, I will come here and make sure everything that is precious to you become nothing'' Ronald said and left the study room.

''You won't be satisfied until everyone in this family is miserable, even if they obey you and live in misery, right?'' Peter said and also turned to leave. He got to the door and turned to his mother, ''if you don't leave with me right now, you can consider that I am no longer your son''

Bridget looked between the two of them and quickly rushed to her son's side and went out with him.

The old man sat back and calmly took the phone beside him and made a call, ''find out everything there is about the woman Ronald is seeing and arrange a meeting with her for me'' he finished and placed the phone aside.

He felt that he was doing everything for their good but they weren't seeing the efforts he was making. He was going to prove to him that no woman would say no to money. It didn't matter to him the means he was going to use, but at that moment, he was going to separate the two of them.

Just a day ago, he had received a call from Brew Cannon informing him of Angela's arrival. He had to proceed with the wedding arrangement because he was under pressure. He wants Lincoln to join the assembly this year itself and his only link was through Brew Cannon who knew the President personally.

The old man knew about the deeds committed by his son and Angela, but he was willing to turn a blind eye to that because he knew that the marriage wouldn't mean anything to them but still they needed to be married in paper for the public to believe them. He knew those two would end up sleeping in separate rooms after the marriage.

After leaving Agyeman mansion, Ronald didn't stop driving until he arrived and pulled over in front of Kris's apartment. He didn't get down, he just sat in the car and gazed at the apartment for a while and was about to drive away when he saw Kris' call.

''Kris, aren't you sleeping?'' he asked her because he was surprised to see her call.

''Is that you down there?'' Kris' room was just up and her window was facing there, so she could see outside clearly when she opened her curtains. She had seen the car but wasn't sure if he was indeed the one.

''Yes, I came all the way here before I even realised it''

''Wait for me, I will be down soon'' she said and hung up the call.

Ronald sighed and put the phone away before getting down from the car. he soon saw Kristine running towards him. She ran into him and embraced him tightly.

''I missed you so much'' she said to him.

Ronald chuckled, 'I missed you two. Why are you not asleep?''

''Maybe I was hoping that you would come and see me? What happened, you don't look good?''

''I just came here after having a chat with my grandfather''

''Did you two have a fight?''

''En, this time, I might really be thrown out of the family for good. I told him that if he didn't cancel the engagement, I would remove my name from the family's register''

''What's with everyone? Kody removed his name from his family register in order to marry Jenny and you are thinking of doing the same thing?''

''He is a stubborn old man. he always wants everything done his way''

''Then, I guess I have to go and collect my inheritance fast. What will you do if you are thrown out of the family?''

''What will you do?'' Ronald wrapped his arms around her waist as he asked.

''I guess I have to be the breadwinner then. I will take care of you''

''You will do that?''

''En, I can even adopt you if you want me to. Where will I find a man who is so good to me if I leave you?''

''Then, I promise to be even more good to you. I will spoil you every day. But, you don't need to worry about what will happen. I am a doctor who is sort after by a lot of hospitals and I've saved a lot of money that can take care of you for a long time''

''Mmm, what a husband material you are''

''Then, would you marry me?'' he suddenly removed a ring from his side pocket and slide it into her finger''

''Ronald you?'' Kristine looked at the ring.

''I know this is rushed but I can assure you that this is just an engagement. My promise to you that I belong to only you''

''Off course you belong to me, and I belong to you'' Kristine looked at him and he leaned down and kissed her.

Brenda was busy making corrections on a drawing she had received from a contractor when her phone buzzed. Taking it she opened and saw the message from Robyn.

''Lunch at the Bits; on me'

She furrowed her brows and turned to look at the man behind her with a puzzled expression. He smiled at her and sent another message.

''You can eat whatever you want'

Brenda smiled and closed the paper before standing up. She looked at him before taking her purse and walked out of the office.

The moment she left, Robyn stood up and placed his phone in his side pocket and walked hurriedly out to join her at the elevator.

Lately, the two of them have been acting like lovers who were having a secret love affair. They would text each other, flirt subtly and then go out to eat together. it had been like that since the day after her birthday.

The elevator was about to closer when a hand stopped it and Robyn rushed inside and chuckled. ''that was close. I thought I was going to miss you''

''You know, us sneaking like this feels so weird, right?''

''I love it'' he said looking at her.

''Why are you looking at me like that?''

''Because you are beautiful'' he said and Brenda blushed. She turned her face away and smiled.

When they reached the ground floor, they got down together and chatted as they walked out of the building. Just at the entrance, Brenda was about to say something to Robyn when she heard someone call her name and her body tensed up.
