Chapter Six
Chapter Six
You wake up with a jaw cracking yawn, and that, all on its own, is enough to remind you that you have a fragile mortal body hanging onto your non-spatial, non-chronological, non-causality-caring mass.
Waking up from a nap is always a tricky thing. Once, you went to sleep in the great dark only to wake up and realize that there were new things around you. Planets and stars and teeny tiny mortals living on floating rocks.
Physics had pulled a quick one on you while you took a trillion year nap, the sneaky bugger.
But not today. You look down towards your pillow only to find that it is very squishy and soft and breathing a little. Its an Abigail. An Abigail pillow.
This is good. Its warm, and soft, and the little sounds she makes in her sleep are quite adorable.
Unfortunately, you have decided that the nap is over and that it is now time for waking up and action before the next nap. Carefully, you pull all of your tentacuddlers away from Abigail and show your teeth when she mumbles in her sleep and tries to grab onto some of them. Your summoner is beginning to come around to all the fun one can have with tentacles. Most excellent!
A peak out of a dirty window reveals that the sun is just starting to rise, the sky still the dark blue of early morning. That means you napped through the night. Or maybe youve been napping for days and Abigail entered some sort of mortal hibernation state.
Nah, Daphne would have come around to bother you if that was the case.
Hopping off the bed, you do your post-nap stretching. Each tentacle reaches out as far as it can until its shivering with tension, then pulls back. Youre not sure how to work with mortal limbs yet so you wrap a tentacle around your wrist and pull, and pull and pull. Theres a pop from your shoulder, and then it feels warm.
With a squelch, your arm is torn out of your shoulder and, freed from its mooring, your tentacle swings it around and into the nearest wall with a splat.
You blink at the gushing wound at your side.
Darn, thats inconvenient.
You pick up your arm, trying to be quiet as to not wake Abigail from her nap, and push it back into place.
It flops to the ground as soon as you let go.
Sighing at the puddle around your feet, you give up on your old arm, a pair of tentacles bringing it to the bin in the kitchen where fruit peels and empty cans of food are stacked. You shove it in the bin for now.
You glare at your missing arm until it grows back, then test your new fingers a few times. Alls well that ends well.
Now, youre up, youre fully armed, you cant make too much noise or itll wake Abigail and... and youre kinda bored.
Theres hardly any room in Abigails tiny home, everything is all cramped together and its impossible to move without bumping into things. You decide to fix that.
Its simple really, theres a limited amount of room here but the Great Infinity has a lot of space. An infinite amount, actually. So, with tentacles that are both here and not here at the same time, you grab some space and start stuffing it around Abigails apartment.
Its a little messy. The entrance to her bathroom is now bigger than the rest of the apartment, her kitchen counter goes on for quite a ways and one of the legs on the kitchen table plunges into its own shadows, but at least things are bigger.
Its nice, until you notice that the shadows under the bed are bottomless. That wont do.
Getting onto your knees, you tuck your head under the bed and gaze into the Abyss.
The Abyss gazes back.
Dont you have better things to do? you ask the Abyss.
The Abyss shrugs a little. Not really.
You glare at it. Well go do nothing elsewhere.
With a huff, you take some space away from there. It wouldnt do for Abigail to lose something down there. The Abyss is very rude about giving things back.
You stand up, proud of your hard-ish work and clap your hands onto your bare thighs. Abigail stirs a little, her hair wobbling around in a rats nest as she shifts her head. Shes still wearing her glasses, the silly summoner.
Oh well, shell wake up in due time.
You head over to the washroom to see if it can be improved too. It takes a few minutes to get there, on account of the distance, but thats alright.
The bathroom is a little dingy, and could use some scrubbing, but thats someone elses job. You put some space in the bottom of the toilet, and more space in the bath until it becomes like a deep ocean , then you use your tentacles to climb up to the vanity.
Thats when you catch sight of yourself in the mirror. The girl that stares back is very cute, if you say so yourself, with frizzy black hair just like Abigails and pretty black eyes that spin with the slow cadence of a leaf caught in the winds of madness. You also have a button nose. It scrunches left, then right as you try to wiggle it around, eyes crossing as you try to see it yourself. Neat!
D-Dreamer! Abigail cries. Whats going on?
Did Abigail get lost in her apartment? How silly.
Youll have to put off staring at yourself for a while, you need to go save Abigail so that she can make your breakfast.
Is that blood?! Why is there blood all over? Dreamer!
