[Foreword]
I’ve written quite a journey up to now, experienced a lot, and had many reflections, so I’ll share them here with you all.
[Experiences]
The book was released on February 9th and listed on April 1st, roughly 50 days, totalling 242,000 characters.
I’ve written quite a few books, but never with such a long free period and so many free characters as a new book; this is a first for me.
Along the way, I’ve been through a lot, yet I still managed to endure.
For example, the book was rejected three times upon release, with no publication allowed; readers gave various opinions and suggestions, both good and bad, and there were personal attacks that often irritated me.
After calming down, I accepted many suggestions from readers and revised the earlier chapters multiple times, altering some settings and writing styles, all in the hope of satisfying more readers.
For instance, the new book period has been quite long, almost two months, and many readers hoped it would be listed sooner, but who doesn’t want that more than the author?
When I was at other sites, new books would be listed within ten days. Writing a new book for such a long time was a real test of patience, and many times I was close to giving up, but thankfully you all supported me.
As a newcomer to Qidian, I didn’t have resources, and getting recommendations required battling it out step by step. The book’s performance was neither good nor bad, and it couldn’t jump to recommendations, enduring six rounds plus the ten days before the first round of recommendations.
There are many more experiences, like several bouts of kidney stones while writing the book, but I won’t recount them all here,
[Q&A]
Some readers have been dissatisfied with the recent chapters, thinking that Lu Tianxiang shouldn’t have been saved, and here I need to reiterate the tone of this book:
This is a fast-paced survival story (“Exciting story”?), where the protagonist’s “golden finger” is marrying wives and concubines to increase his strength by expanding his descendants; every female character described in great detail is a target of the protagonist’s.
If these intricately depicted female characters were killed off, then the tone of the book would be ruined, rendering their detailed description useless.
As main heroines, they will have a lot of roles later on, unlike those nameless, nondescript concubines from before; I hope everyone can understand.
In the early stages of the book, the protagonist was weak in strength and influence, and couldn’t be mindful of many aspects, so he could only defer them for later. That’s why I accelerated the timeline to quickly increase the protagonist’s powers, preparing for the middle stage.
After moving, the protagonist enters the middle stage, his personal strength still increases rapidly, but he will also focus on cultivating his descendants and developing the family’s power, plotting for the world.
I will spend narrative on some of the female leads and will also portray some distinguished descendants, trying to write each character’s personality without slipping into stereotyping.
Though the book is about to enter the middle stage, there is still a long way ahead, and the map is huge. Qianyuan Divine Province is just the starting zone, so I hope everyone can be patient and continue supporting as before. Yesterday I discussed listing with my editor, and the editor mentioned that there were a lot of characters, asking if I wanted to do a reverse release—withholding some chapters to create anticipation. I refused.
Even though I could earn a bit more by withholding a few tens of thousands of characters, it’s simply not right. Let’s just do it as it should be done and not earn that “dirty money.”
Also, I had already brainstormed this book before the year’s end, but various things held me up from writing it until I had some free time in February to start. There might be some trend -following, but the ideas from other sites remain original in terms of the story’s plot.
[Acknowledgements]
Firstly, I am extremely grateful to my editor, Penglai, also known as super beauty “Milk Penglai.” That the book could be published and has come this far is in large part thanks to her.
After being rejected three times, it was Penglai who picked me back up, allowing a newcomer like me to write on this grand platform. That the book completed six rounds and got listed on Sanjiang was also something “Milk Penglai” strived hard for.
Throughout the writing process, Penglai also provided plenty of advice, which was a significant help, so here I want to thank “Milk Penglai” for her support of the book.
Secondly, I want to thank all the readers who have supported me along the way, including the leaders “I Have an Eye that Can Ascend to Immortality” and “Star King,” as well as other readers for their rewards, monthly tickets, and recommendation tickets. I am truly grateful; your support has carried this book to today.
I have read every comment you’ve posted, and I’ve replied to many of them. I’ll continue to do so in the future. If there are any shortcomings in the book, please feel free to point them out, but please refrain from personal attacks, which are intolerable for any author.
Last but not least, thanks to the operations officer “Sleep a Little Less” and the readers “Qing MO Shang Fan Chen” and “Xiao Feng, C?n Yué” for providing fan art of the book’s characters.
[Mass Release]
The book will be listed at 00:05 on April 1st.
It’s said that every book on Qidian must have a mass release upon listing, so this one will not be an exception. There couldn’t be any books that don’t, right?
As mentioned before, let’s start with a 50,000-character burst upon listing to satisfy the readers. (You can take a screenshot of this to motivate other authors)
Of course, my stockpile is certainly more than 50,000 characters, and I’ll add more chapters depending on the situation.
About the update schedule after listing, if it optimizes for premium, I’ll update 10,000 characters daily. For every additional 500 premium subscriptions, I’ll update an extra 2,000 characters each day. But if the initial subscriptions don’t reach 3,000, I’ll update 8,000 characters daily.
Performance is the face of a book and the tool an author uses to make a living; I hope my readers can support me in this.
Better results lead to more updates, and I can create better works.
Last of all, let me talk about the book’s plan. According to the outline, it should exceed 2.6 million characters.
As a first-time author, I won’t leave the book unfinished; I certainly won’t stop after just a few hundred thousand or a million characters.
[Promotion]
I’m promoting a friend’s book, “A Journey Through Myriad Worlds Starting from Tokyo Tales of Terror,” which has some decent supernatural content, and interested readers can check it out.
Intro: Transmigrating into a world of tales of terror, he thought he could live a carefree life as a ghost and deity master like Seimei.
But unexpectedly, he gained the power of Fuchi.
Since then, Si Ye was forced to drift between various tales of terror just to stay
alive.
“Ye-kun, you wouldn’t want Kayako to Imow about this, would you?” “Ye-kun, what do you think would happen if she got her hands on this photo?”
“Ye-kun…”
“Ye-kun, you know what you need to do if you don’t want others to know, right?”
