Chapter 90
Several people with influence were caught colluding with Master Gray to smuggle goods out of the County and arrested.
This news spread throughout the County like a wildfire.
Literally, some hours later, every neighborhood auntie could be seen talking about it
On top of that, with gossip of Tiara getting caught having an affair with Master Gray by the southern inner guards washing over just about everyone serving the master tailor, the Guard patrolling the garden was also exposed to the true color of his lover.
“Damn it… I’ve wasted my life serving the wrong master and loving a bitch meant for the streets.” While cursing the two in his mind, the Guard’s fingers curled into a fist, the teacup in his hand crushed to bits.
He had wasted three years serving Master Gray for Tiara, but she gave him a betrayal in return and hooked up with an old man.
Tiara burst into his living quarters, only to see him packing up. She grabbed his wrists and, like a little beggar, looked into his eyes. “It was only a one time thing. Please don’t leave me. I will never cheat on you again, I promise.”
With a red face, the guard swatted her hands away, “You’ve been unfaithful to me once. Surely, it wouldn’t be a problem for you to hook up with some rich dude behind my back.” His face was red as he sarcastically yelled at her, “Letting someone in between your legs was the worst way you could’ve hurt me. Of all the people you could’ve chosen, you went for that old bastard Gray. How lowly can you get? I am thankful for the person who took action against him. Otherwise, I’m afraid I would’ve married you and lived with a green hat till my last breath. All the love I had for you has vanished from my heart. I don’t ever want to see you again.”
“You can’t do this for me. I did it for us!” She tried to grab him, but he pushed her away. He sprinted away as if she was a plague.
Seeing his back becoming a thin line in her vision, she loudly begged him not to and promised she would never cheat on him again, but he acted like he couldn’t hear her, his footsteps never halting.
Abandoning her, he resigned from his post, took his pension, and left the southern district where the cost of living was ridiculous for a man like him in search of a better future!
Inside the Alchemy Workshop, sitting in a magic circle, was a man too otherworldly.
A single look at him would make the tender hearts of young women beat frantically.
The chance of them fainting after being blessed with is visage wasn’t low either.
His eyes were like a distant dream. You want to see yourself in it but are unable to without working hard. Long before the ancient war that led to the fall of the divines, the Gods of Old have said humans are like jade. The finer you knife and chisel them, the greater their features. He was the perfect example of this saying. His jawline was sharper than a knife but more attractive than a crystal mine. The view of him was like a reflection of perfection. He was as if created by God himself. He was none other than Roy Badulf Baldwin.
He had taken after his mother, and since he had burned all his mana fat, his true features were revealed.
From a fat white sheep, he has become a handsome dragon!
『Ding! The healing wisps generated by the magic circle have been absorbed by you. Congratulation. You’ve recovered a significant amount of your HP.』
『HP: 10/10』
This notification rang in his mind the moment his eyes snapped open.
Crystal dust was piled next to the Flags. He determined they must be the magic crystal the elder mage used to activate the magic circle that helped him ascend to the ranks of magi. They were worth tens of thousands of gold coins as their levels and purity grade were pretty incredible. All of them were wasted on him. He didn’t know how to repay Vizards!
As he was feeling grateful to him, a system’s notification rang in his mind.
『Ding! Congratulation. Your follower, Swift Death, has killed a Level 7 sentient Treasure Chest. You get seven experience points.』
Roy’s eyes widened, holding the sight of this entire room yet looking distant. Maybe it was because Swift Death was his maid, or maybe it was because he had established a magical connection with her, but he was able to get EXP from the sentient beings she killed. This function of the system amazed him.
『Ding! Congratulation. Your follower, Swift Death, has changed the fate of a man called Rolando by unintentionally exposing to him that his lover was cheating on him with Master Gray and saving him from a lifetime of pain and regrets. You get 100 EXP and 10× Eternal Weed!』
Roy looked taken aback by this. Helping others meant getting a reward from the system. He knew about this. But he didn’t expect that his hidden blade helping someone realize he was wearing a green hat could also get him gold! Wonderful!
He stood up, walking out of the secret room. He was wobbling. Significant changes he had undergone. It was going to take some time before he could walk stably again, considering the fact that he was at the mythical level and his basic stats were all at 50, the maximum one could achieve before awakening.
Reflective surfaces were plenty in this room.
He looked at himself in the mirror and found a handsome man with princely features staring back at him.
Immediately, an exclamation escaped his mouth, “Wow, is this what I really look like? Seeing how my uncle looks, the count must not be handsome. I must have taken entirely after my mother.”
Roy’s pleasant surprise at seeing his true self didn’t last long. He knew his body well. Hidden under the clothes was an abomination. Taking off his shirt was a good idea as he was able to get a better look at himself in the mirror. Not only did he have pockets and loose skin, but he was full of stretch marks, the red, angry-looking ones.
“These are the scars of my battle against fat. I don’t need to feel ashamed of them.” Seeing what he had become, Roy comforted himself. “… but I need to find a way to deal with them, or I would be too uncomfortable my entire life.”
Each time he took a step, he could feel it tugging or rubbing against him, irritating his skin.
Just as he was thinking of a solution to this problem, a hot news rang in his mind, and he found it to his liking.
『Ding! Congratulation. Your subordinate has proven herself competent by making the officials put Master Gray and many others behind bars.』
『Quest Completed!』
『Ninam’s Mana Meditation Technique Obtained!』
『Ninam’s True Magic Obtained!』
“Delilah, you’ve surpassed my expectations of you. The next time we meet, I will reward you for doing a good job for this noble.” Roy praised Swift Death in his mind and turned to examine the two new techniques he had got.

That’s what the previous few chapters were for. It would’ve felt weird to see Roy getting rewarded without a reason. I usually only write the protagonist’s POV. But this time, I decided to improve and brin a change to my usual ways. If you liked what you see and would like other characters’ POV in the future, please say so. Your argument will be valued!
