One had to admit, Danzo was indeed skilled at training ninjas.

Even Gensou had to acknowledge that these Root ninjas were no less proficient than the elite shinobi of the Warring States era, perhaps even surpassing them in cold-blooded efficiency.

It was just their unfortunate luck to encounter him.

Any ninja below Kage level would have had a hard time against these two squads.

"It seems Danzo, that old schemer, has issued a high-priority order to capture me."

Otherwise, given Root's discipline, these ninjas would never completely abandon their mission of monitoring the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki to go all out against him.

"I'll remember this."

Gensou made a mental note, glanced towards Tanzaku Town, and disappeared into the night.

A minute later, Jiraiya arrived at the scene.

The noise of Gensou's battle with the Root ninja had been drowned out by the hustle and bustle of Tanzaku Town, but it didn't escape the notice of someone of the Sannin's level.

Tsunade continued drinking, uninterested in the commotion.

Thus, Jiraiya arrived alone.

Looking at the eight corpses on the ground, Jiraiya wasn't in a good mood.

Though he disliked Danzo and Root's methods, Root ninjas were still members of Konoha.

The fact that eight Konoha ninjas had been killed within the Land of Fire, right under his nose, was a blatant provocation.

Jiraiya's face turned serious:

"Was it Orochimaru?"

He first thought of his old friend.

Although Tsunade hadn't said anything, Jiraiya knew that she had met with Orochimaru in Tanzaku Town and they had discussed something before he and Naruto arrived.

It was normal for Orochimaru to still be lurking nearby.

However, after carefully examining the wounds on the eight Root ninjas, Jiraiya dismissed this idea.

He was too familiar with Orochimaru's combat style.

The way these Root ninjas died didn't match Orochimaru's methods.

"Someone else? To be able to take down eight Root ninjas in such a short time, without getting hurt and leaving no traces, must be a formidable individual."

Jiraiya thought gravely.

The task of persuading Tsunade to become the Fifth Hokage seemed riskier than he had imagined.

"The girl with Tsunade must know something. I can't delay any longer; I need to find out the truth." Jiraiya pondered.

But before that, as comrades, he had to deal with the bodies of the Root ninjas.

After the night of Root's demise, everything returned to normal.

As if nothing had happened, Tsunade continued her routine of gambling, drinking, and sleeping.

Naruto, determined to master the Rasengan within seven days, practiced the jutsu tirelessly from morning to night.

Although Jiraiya hadn't managed to get the details of Orochimaru's deal from Shizune due to Tsunade's orders, he did find out about Gensou's arrival. While occasionally drinking with Tsunade, he spent most of his time searching around Tanzaku Town for hidden enemies. Orochimaru alone was enough of a headache.

Adding the legendary Gensou into the mix made it even worse.

On the other side.

The source of Jiraiya's headache, Gensou, was not in Tanzaku Town but resting in a nearby city.

Although the Edo Tensei body didn't need rest, a good environment still made him feel more comfortable.

Gensou took this time to explore the current ninja world, which was vastly different from the Warring States era he was familiar with.

Seven days later.

Emerging from a cinema, having just watched a Princess Gale movie, Gensou sighed:

"I never expected the movie technology to have developed to this extent. Compared to the terrible films I saw in my past life, this movie was quite exciting."

The current ninja world not only had a rich variety of ninjutsu but also enjoyed the conveniences and advantages brought by technology.

Compared to the cold, lifeless underworld, this vibrant world made him want to stay even

more.

Gensou looked up at the bright sun, calculating the time. Today was the agreed day.

Orochimaru and Tsunade would soon arrive for their meeting, and he certainly couldn't miss

this event.

"It's time to go.

A gentle breeze blew, and Gensou's figure vanished from the cinema entrance.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Tanzaku Town.

In the same alley where the wall had been shattered by a giant snake.

After spending the night drinking with Jiraiya until he passed out from the drugged drink she

slipped him, Tsunade came alone to the alley to meet Orochimaru.

Almost simultaneously, they appeared on opposite sides of the alley.

As they approached each other, Orochimaru's golden pupils flashed with doubt.

"Gensou didn't come?"

Similarly,

Tsunade scanned the surroundings.

Not seeing any sign of Gensou, she frowned slightly.

'Only Orochimaru?'

At that moment, Gensou, who both Orochimaru and Tsunade were thinking about, hadn't

arrived yet.

After seeing the bet between Tsunade and Naruto, he realized that Orochimaru's deal had

fallen through.

Consequently, his own deal had also failed.

Not interested in tangling with the stubborn Tsunade, he shifted his focus to Shizune.

As for how to proceed,

he believed that with Orochimaru's threat, Shizune would be eager to come to Tsunade's aid.

The Will of Fire instilled in Konoha ninja emphasized never abandoning comrades.

So, what choice would they make for their comrades?

Gensou was very curious.

To ensure their meeting wasn't disrupted, Tsunade had knocked Shizune out, leaving her

unconscious for an entire night.

If not for Naruto's injuries from practicing the Rasengan waking him up earlier than expected, Shizune would have remained unconscious for two days. After waking up, Naruto roused

Shizune from her stupor.

"Not good! Tsunade-sama!"

Learning the current time from Naruto, Shizune immediately got up to pursue Tsunade.

Just then, Jiraiya, who had also been awakened by others and sensed something was wrong, rushed back. Seeing that Tsunade was missing, he sternly asked Shizune: "Shizune, what exactly did you and Orochimaru talk about? You need to tell me now."

Shizune's expression darkened. "I wanted to believe in Tsunade-sama, so I didn't say anything. But... there's no time! Please follow me, I'll explain on the way!"

With that, Shizune quickly ran outside.

Jiraiya and Naruto followed closely.

On the way, as Shizune explained the entire deal, Naruto naturally thought the answer should

be "NO."

But Jiraiya's heart grew heavier.

"Nawaki... Dan... Orochimaru's really good at calculating. We must stop Tsunade

immediately, otherwise..."

Jiraiya was prepared for the worst.

But before he could act, an unexpected figure appeared ahead, causing his expression to

change drastically.
