Chapter 255: Cultivation
Chapter 255: Cultivation
"Although life and death are disregarded on the Life and Death Platform, there is a virtue of cherishing life in the universe. As cultivators, we should not be ruthlessly aggressive."
The Old Man continued with his twisted logic.
"Oh! So you are a cultivator from the Gao Family. If you disagree, you can come up and teach me yourself."
While Wang Hong was speaking with the Old Man, his movements did not stop. The sound of cracking bones could be heard from under his feet.
The audience below, hearing these bone-crushing sounds, felt chills down their spines and their teeth ached.
This was no Alchemist, but a fierce god.
Especially the short and plump cultivator who had just been chatting with Wang Hong. Seeing Wang Hong's ferocious side, he slapped himself hard.
He regretted speaking carelessly earlier, only seeking momentary pleasure by comparing Wang Hong to a whetstone, not knowing if he had offended this man.
"The old man need not stoop to your level. It would be seen as bullying for me, at the mid-stage of Foundation Building, to compete with you. It would invite ridicule."
After saying this, the Old Man swished his sleeves and left, showing a sort of immortal elegance.
The Old Man had thought it through. From Wang Hong's performance, although he was slightly higher in realm, he didn't have much chance of winning.
A life and death battle was not a trivial matter. One oversight could lead to the end of one's path in cultivation.
As for losing face, having lived so long, he had learned to let go. Pride was not more important than life.
He decided to go back, rethink his strategy, and then decide whether to fight or not.
Wang Hong had stepped on Gao Ru several times, effectively crippling him, as revenge for He Yuan.
He hadn't intended to kill Gao Ru, but seeing the hatred in Gao Ru's eyes, Wang Hong hardened his heart and crushed his skull. Leaving an enemy alive was never a good idea.
After killing Gao Ru, Wang Hong looted valuable items from his body, set fire to the corpse, and turned it to ash.
The audience watched this scene under broad daylight. Wang Hong's methods of killing, looting, and destroying evidence were so skilled and experienced that it was awe-inspiring.
People wondered if he was really an Alchemist. His proficiency seemed more like that of a treasure-hunting cultivator.
It seemed prudent to keep a distance from this Alchemist in the future.
As for the other cultivators of the Gao Family, they were filled with grief and anger but powerless. Even their mid-stage Foundation Building elder had left. What could these minor Qi Cultivation level cultivators do?
After killing Gao Ru, Wang Hong did not linger. He jumped off the platform and left.
Seeing him leave, the surrounding cultivators quickly moved aside, opening a wide path for him, a stark contrast to his arrival.
In the following days, the Gao Family did not seek him out, and he did not bother them either, returning to a temporary peace.
Wang Hong used this time to greatly enhance the strength of his followers.
First was Skinny Monkey, who had reached the peak of Qi Cultivation and was just missing the Foundation Establishment Pill.
Wang Hong gave Skinny Monkey some Jade Scrolls of Foundation Building experience and six Foundation Establishment Pills, the same number he had used for his own Foundation Building.
Skinny Monkey's talent was similar to his, but with his and other non-Spiritual Root cultivators' experience, he probably wouldn't need as many.
Ten days later, Skinny Monkey successfully achieved Foundation Building, using four pills and returning the remaining two to Wang Hong.
After Skinny Monkey's success, it was Zhao Ning's turn. Zhao Ning was currently at the eighth level of Qi Cultivation, still two levels away from reaching the peak of Qi Cultivation.
Wang Hong entered his Space, where he had propagated Green Spirit Peach trees over three acres of land using branches and roots. These peach trees, almost a thousand years old, had grown over ten feet tall and were laden with peaches of various sizes.
Previously, in Boundary City, he had picked some large ones to enhance the strength of Wen Lan and others, taking away dozens of them. Now, after more than three hundred years in the Space, the peaches, which were originally the size of eggs, were nearly as big as fists.
With a sufficient quantity this time, he finally could keep a few to see what tier the mature Green Spirit Peaches would reach. He was always curious about this since the ones he had consumed before were immature.
He picked three not-so-large peaches from the Space, two for Zhao Ning, which should be enough. The extra one, he wanted to taste for himself. Even though he had eaten them before and found the taste average, he was curious to try again, especially now that he had plenty.
"Zhao Ning, here are two peaches for you to consume," Wang Hong said, handing over two Green Spirit Peaches to Zhao Ning.
"Thank you, East Master!" Zhao Ning said, taking the two green peaches handed to him by Wang Hong with a bit of confusion.
Wang Hong had called him to a secret room and solemnly opened the formation just for these two seemingly unripe peaches. Could there be something special about them?
"These Green Spirit Peaches can boost a Qi Cultivation cultivator by one cultivation level upon consumption. Quickly reach the peak of Qi Cultivation Realm to prepare for Foundation Building," Wang Hong explained.
Zhao Ning realized the unassuming items in his hand had such potent effects, feeling their weight increase in his grasp.
After more than ten days, Ling Shuai finally arrived at Azure Void City with his daughter. Wang Hong, feeling short of capable people, found Ling Shuai's arrival timely.
He hadn't sought trouble with the Gao Family mainly because he lacked manpower. He Yuan's injuries had improved, but he was only able to move around a bit. The Ma Brothers were afraid of death and not realistic for combat. Skinny Monkey, just having achieved Foundation Building, wasn't stable enough for fighting either.
That left Wang Hong as the only capable leader. The Gao Family had six Foundation Building cultivators; even after killing one, there were still five left.
"Ling Daoist, was your journey here safe?" Wang Hong asked, though it was somewhat redundant. He was just reminded of his own robbery by a Golden Core cultivator.
"I followed a merchant convoy here, so there were no issues," Ling Shuai replied.
"That's good. Rest for a few days, Ling Daoist. I'll need your help with something soon. Also, from now on, your monthly compensation will be increased from two Nourishing Essence Pills to five. How does that sound?" Wang Hong offered, knowing Ling Shuai's strength would be greatly beneficial to him.
For Ling Shuai, a typical Foundation Building cultivator, this was a generous offer. It would be difficult for him to find better treatment elsewhere, and earning it on his own would be even harder. People accustomed to better treatment and living environments rarely choose to accept worse conditions.
"Thank you for your generosity, Wang Daoist. I'm at your service for anything you need," Ling Shuai gratefully accepted, knowing that Wang Hong, having observed him and deemed him not greedy, was willing to offer higher compensation. Wang Hong always kept his distance from those who were never satisfied.
"There's no hurry. Rest for a few days and then help me manage the shop," Wang Hong concluded.
