Chapter 141 Priscilla's Hunch.
Things were back on track with Clarence out of the picture, the work colleagues were informed and Jane was given a week off to get her mental health in order.
Not only did this also show the lapse in Apple Stores, the lack of a background check was evident in this sort of big corporation but then again, they couldn't be blamed because Clarence was a man that found a way around it.
The fact that the police couldn't find him further reinstated how elusive he was.
Clarence knew a few people but it was clear that they weren't loyal to him as they did whatever they wanted either way.
This ruled out any retaliation by any third party as no one cared too much about Clarence.
Priscilla had solved the case and linked it to multiple other cases that went unsolved. Find more chapters on empire
This earned her the respect of her peers as they were glad that the other victims found closure.
But it also highlighted her ability to see things that the others couldn't, a gut feeling was one of the most powerful things and it was no coincidence that she had a 90% accuracy.
The LAPD knew that they needed a new way to tackle things as criminals were getting smarter with the introduction of technology among other things.
The old ways no longer worked and sometimes, even science failed like it did with this recent case.
Priscilla was thankful that it turned out this way but she was curious about the kind of man that could kill someone like Clarence.
More so, why did Clarence try to kill him despite his previous victims being only women?
What made Kyle so unique was that he would change his M.O. There was no attempt to sexually assault him either so this was a blatant attempt at murder.
"What are you thinking about?" Oliver asked, sitting right across from her as they had lunch in a nearby restaurant.
"What do you mean?" Priscilla questioned.
"You're doing that thing with your face," Oliver muttered before sinking his teeth into the burger in front of him as opposed to Priscilla, who was having something light with a plate of salad sitting in front of her.
"I just feel like I'm missing something," Priscilla confessed but Oliver rolled his eyes upon hearing this.
She always did this. Oliver tapped the table, reminding her that she was yet to touch her food.
"Eat Priscilla. If there is something else to solve, we can do that after eating," Oliver pointed out, taking another bite out of his burger.
"I have a question for you," Priscilla spoke, digging her fork into the salad before her.
"Shoot," Oliver responded.
"If a robber was to come here and we were supposed to give chase, how do you plan on doing so?" Priscilla commented.
Oliver already knew what she was insinuating, junk food wasn't healthy and Oliver was beginning to develop something of a dad bod.
This was a bad look and there was no way that he would be able to keep up in a police chase which would ultimately leave her without backup.
"Come on! I haven't had one in so long!" Oliver defended himself but the pace at which he was devouring the meal in front of him reduced drastically because he was now self-conscious.
"Not everyone can eat to satisfaction with salad," Oliver added.
"You aren't meant to eat until you're satisfied but eat to sustain yourself," Priscilla pointed out before taking another fork into the mouth.
She was savouring the taste but Oliver continued with his burger but he understood that Priscilla wasn't attacking.
She has always been blunt when it came to these things.
"What did you think about Kyle?" Priscilla questioned. Despite eating, she was still thinking about work.
"I think he needs time to accept what has happened to him. You must have seen it, he was scared out of his mind," Oliver pointed out.
"It would be strange if he wasn't but he hides it pretty well," Priscilla pointed out.
The police officers had seen through his brave face due to their experience in the force.
They have seen people go through similar situations so it wasn't anything new.
"Is that why you asked me or did you see something I missed?" Oliver questioned.
He trusted Priscilla when it came to these things because she had connected dots that he didn't even know existed.
"Why was he targeted? Why did Clarence choose him and could it be related to that lady?" Priscilla questioned.
"Priscilla, the case is solved. There is no need to dig deeper for more dirt," Oliver kept her in check.
She had this habit of overdoing it and ruining the good work she had done already.
This was why she hadn't been promoted despite her high intelligence.
This flaw was too great to be overlooked because if she did get promoted, it meant fewer people would call her into check and she risked ruining the authenticity of the LAPD.
Even though Oliver was doing a decent job acting as an anchor, there was only so much he could do.
"You're right…" Priscilla conceded, heaving a frustrated sigh.
"Should we talk about your weight some more?" Priscilla asked.
"NO!" Oliver fired back, he would rather have silence than be shamed for his eating habits.

Ella didn't know that Calista shared a sexual relationship with Kyle but something was interesting that happened.
Calista pretended to not know who Kyle was even after the conversation had come to a halt.
She could have easily driven a wedge between this supposed relationship by revealing who she was but she didn't.
However, she did exchange contact information with Ella because she knew that this woman would be a lot more useful for information under the guise of friendship.
Ella thought that Calista was strange but who wasn't in this crazy world?
More importantly, she found a fan and that made her entire day because she would have never imagined her music would appeal to someone that wealthy. She was speechless when she saw the car she drove, this confirmed the aura of superiority.
