Chapter 54 - Blindness – Part 2
The Spider Queen moved across the rocky peak as if walking on flat ground.
Yang Yi could only stare helplessly, unable to come up with a feasible plan — his attack range wasn't wide enough.
The Queen’s abdomen lifted towards the ground, aimed at Yang Yi, and sprayed a mist of webbing in his direction, akin to rain.
The web strands were sticky and clingy — if they touched him, escaping would be nearly impossible.
The Spider Queen intended to limit Yang Yi’s movements.
Yet Yang Yi...accepted it gladly!
He acted ferally, stomping heavily on the web with both feet. Even though it was hard to lift his legs, he raised his head to look at the Spider Queen and pointed a finger at e over here!" Yang Yi taunted.
In reality, he had no other choice.
The effects of the Crimson Potion would last only two more minutes. If things continued the way they were headed, once time ran out, Yang Yi would fall into a state of extreme dehydration.
At that point, even without the Spider Queen’s webbing, he would lose the ability to move!
Rather than let that happen, he decided to fight with all the strength he had left.
"You're not coming down? I'm clearly stuck on your web!" Yang Yi taunted again.
His behaviour baffled the Spider Queen, temporarily throwing her into confusion.
But she quickly regained her senses and, with a roar, pushed off with great force, diving straight at him!
“Graaaah!!!!!”
“Good timing!” Yang Yi rejoiced.
The Spider Queen’s massive body loomed larger and larger in his view. Yang Yi could even see her mandibles, dripping with saliva, as she opened her maw to bite him.
In Yang Yi's eyes, however, her descent seemed to slow down.
Seizing the moment, Yang Yi threw his meteor hammer directly at her remaining eye.
His prediction of her upcoming trajectory was so accurate it looked like the Spider Queen was charging right into the path of the meteor hammer!
Due to the power of his enhanced dynamic vision from the "Three-Eyed" ability, he could predict the enemy's attacks and movements to a certain extent!
Yang Yi even felt his thoughts being forcibly sped up by the Three-Eyed power, just to keep up with this heightened vision!
Thud!
The combined forces resulted in the meteor hammer completely destroying the Spider Queen's eye.
Her body convulsed violently in midair, her actions distorted. What was initially a bite aimed at Yang Yi turned into a collision.
Boom!
The Spider Queen crashed into Yang Yi, sending him flying like a broken kite, smashing into a boulder and leaving a trail of blood in his wake.
The impact was severe — it depleted over 50 points of his health.
His ribs were likely broken in four or five places, and his left arm fractured in three.
If not for the heart-guarding mirror protecting his chest, the one blow might have emptied Yang Yi's health bar completely.
But luckily, it didn’t!
He still had 16 health remaining, not even enough to warrant the triggering of his death-prevention skill!
“You should be blind by now. ” Yang Yi struggled as he reached for his waist, only to find that his regeneration potion had shattered, spilling all over the ground.
Fortunately, he hadn't come unprepared.
Yang Yi pulled a long-legged sardine out of his coat pocket, fed it to his stomach pouch, and retrieved a backup regeneration potion from inside, gulping it down in one go.
Gulp, gulp...
【You drink the regeneration potion. Health restored by 20. Wounds begin to heal. The itching is unbearable. Sanity -20.】
A maddening itch spread across his body as his injuries rapidly healed.
Enduring the grating feeling, Yang Yi’s health recovered to 40 points.

He stood up with difficulty, looking towards the Spider Queen.
She was flailing about like a headless fly, blindly attacking the rubble around her.
Yang Yi, with bad intentions, wanted to walk in her direction, but before he could take a single step, his nose suddenly itched, and two streams of blood flowed out. His vision immediately went dark.
It seemed Yang Yi...had gone blind.
“What’s going on?”
He quickly opened his right eye, only to find that he couldn’t see at all — both eyes were affected.
A notification then appeared, informing him that the Crimson Potion’s effects had worn off.
Yang Yi felt his throat burning, as if it had been scraped by knives, and he desperately needed water.
He immediately crouched low to reduce his movements, then fumbled in his coat pocket and pulled out a rotting long-legged sardine, feeding it to his stomach pouch. From inside, he retrieved a water bottle and started drinking small sips.
Two minutes later, after finishing the two litres of water, Yang Yi slowly began to recover from his dehydration, though he still couldn’t perform any strenuous activity.
He listened closely and realised that the egg chamber was eerily quiet — he could hear a pin drop!
“What’s going on?”
Unable to see anything, Yang Yi didn’t dare move recklessly.
After an unknown amount of time passed, Yang Yi finally remembered to contact Suna.
“Suna, come in quickly; I think I’ve gone blind!”
“Blind?”
“Yes, I can’t see!” Yang Yi typed fast..
Without sight, all he could do was check logs and chat.
The system log was soul-bound, so he could still operate it without vision.
“How did you go blind?”
“I’m not really sure…”
Yang Yi recounted what had happened to Suna, but he didn’t go into detail about the Mother of Ten-Limbed Spiders. He simply mentioned the strange things along the way, like how he drank the elixir, lost all his sanity, and then his left eye mutated, making his vision go strange...
“That huge spider was pretending to be dead. Be careful even if I've rendered her just as blind as myself.”
“Oh, that? She’s already dead. I was just looking for a place to cut into her, but her exoskeleton is too tough — my dagger can’t slice through. Where are you? Lend me your short sword to try.”
Suna had already arrived a while ago, meaning Yang Yi had been hiding for no reason.
He stood up and shouted a few words.
Not long after, he heard footsteps approaching, and Suna ran over.
The first thing she said when she opened her mouth was, “Your left eye...is beautiful!”
“Huh?”
Though Yang Yi couldn’t see, he had felt it — it was a bulging mass of three balls squeezed together, sticking out of his eye socket.
No matter how he thought about it, “beautiful” was the last word that came to mind!
He couldn’t help but think that Suna’s sense of beauty was a bit unique, to say the least!
“Your eye is still moving. It should be functioning normally. Can you really not see?” Suna waved her hand in front of Yang Yi’s face and then tried to touch his left eye.
“Don’t touch it!” Yang Yi backed away, feeling goosebumps rise.
But Suna followed closely, sticking so near that Yang Yi could even feel her breath.
“Your left eye has no eyelid, so it can’t close by itself. If it’s really like you said, transmitting three different fields of vision simultaneously, your brain probably can’t handle the load,” Suna explained as she observed.
Yang Yi started to understand.
“You mean...”
“That’s right, you’re not blind! Your brain triggered a defence mechanism, cutting off your vision so you wouldn’t overload your brain and end up brain-damaged or turned into an idiot.”
“So when will I recover?” Yang Yi asked excitedly.
“No idea. Could be the next second, could be a year, could be never.”
“Uh…”
“The brain is a very complicated organ.”
Suna didn’t dwell on the topic but handed Yang Yi something.
“Take this.”
“What is it?”
“A piece of insect shell. Cover your left eye with it — it should block the visual information transmission from your left eye and help with your vision recovery.”
