Chapter 89: The safe-zone!
Chapter 89: The safe-zone!
While flying away from the magical beast, Whittaker performed some hand signs to use telekinesis on the Frost shield, simultaneously the frost spellbook used Frost elements control on his command.
Among the barrage of attack, two of three Frost-shields rushed towards the 10-meter wide python, almost instantly, purplish smoke emits out of its body and defensively covers all its parts, right after, his attack crashed on its face, but the difference between their strength was very wide. The Frost Bolt barely did any damage, and Its innate ability "Poison Cloak" rendered all his attacks and their effect useless.
It was a game-changer for Whittaker, who always used to have an upper hand because of his amazing Class weapons. This time, he had faced an opponent with the bloodline blessing.
"What is that?" Whittaker asked slightly surprised.
[It's the innate defensive ability of the Horned Python. The innate ability is called Poison cloak. Guardian F-ranked attacks will be ineffective until the cloak vanishes] the system replied to the surprised Whittaker.
Things weren't looking good for Whittaker, as meter by meter, the Venomous Dragon-Scaled Horned Python covered the distance between them.
'In a few minutes, It will catch up to me!' Whittaker thought as nervousness started to enact all over his heart. People make mistakes when they are nervous and he knows it. He looked left and right, gazing through the misty forest to look for a safe spot, but found no cave.
"Even a cave with a small entrance would have become my life-saving charm at this moment, but there's none here!" He exclaimed in disappointment. Only a measly distance of 60-meter separated him and the Horned Python. After sixty-seconds, he will probably get eaten by it.
'Will I have to die, once again?' He thought. Disheartened, he broke down in cold sweat as the painful moment of death replayed in his mind. Remember, he was still a young boy, and the pain of death was the least to his liking, vegetables came next.
At the moment of his despair, a monotone voice rang beside his ears,
[Guardian, do not give up and don't be disheartened. Did you forget what Zachary said? All the inheritance trial can be completed as long as you actively respond to the situation at hand]
'But there's no F-ranked awakened in history, who can take down a 7-star and above Magical beast!' he responded while continuing with his flight tactics. He hasn't given up for a single moment, and the barrage of spells was still being thrown at the Horned Python to slow its speed by some fractions of a second. Just that, his attacks weren't working, and use his S-ranked sword to attack the Horned Python was purely suicidal. Not only was it covered by a poisonous mist, but its scales were also hard enough to negate the sharpness of his sword otherwise, he would have butchered it a long time ago.
The system said, [I am not saying Guardian to fight it]
Whittaker's eyes flickered with a thoughtful glint, 'Could it be that there's a safe-place here?' He immediately declined this thought. He had gazed all around by using Devansha's vision but found no such spot unless he missed one. "System, do you know of a safe place near here?" He internally asked.
[Yes. I have analyzed that this trial ground is separated into two zones. A green-zone that can only be accessed by the challenger of the advanced trial ground and a red-zone that is infested with 6-star and above magical beasts.]
"System! Can you please tell me about that place?" Whittaker asked in a pleading tone as this can very well be the saving grace he needs to make it out alive in this trial and earn the rewards in the end.
The system didn't forget its trademark. Only after a short while did the system replied in its monotone voice, [There is no need for the Guardian to plead while asking or demanding about something from me. As for now, the safe-zone is the trail in the middle of the forest. You will be saved from the threatening jaws of the horned python as long as you return to that place]
Night's will system's sole purpose was to guide Whittaker on his journey. It wanted him to experience the beauty and joy of life while also facing the flip-side of the world. 'Only dangerous life and death moments will truly make the young guardian aware of the danger hidden masked by the beauty of nature and the honeyed words of creatures!'
Only a distance of 30-meters separated Whittaker from the open jaws of the horned python, who just wanted to bite into the snowy white and ruddy flesh of the young boy who smelled like fresh meat.
A meal which has not been tasted by it for many years, especially so, after it was kidnapped by Elser Zachary and placed in this hellhole!
Whittaker didn't hesitate before making his way to the trail in the middle of the forest. He hasn't felt any safety in that trail, but since the system has said so and he didn't have any other means to escape the Horned python chase, he decided to put all his luck on that location. At the same time, Whittaker didn't proceed to launch any more attacks. He solely focused on retreating rapidly, three blue-tube appeared in his hand, and he drank them all at the same time to recover his mana points. He was flying so fast that using the combination move Frost bolt+Frost elemental shift was simply useless.
Only a distance of 15-meter separated him from the Horned Python, whose body trembled lightly producing a melodic hum.
[Guardian, the horned python is gonna use its bloodline ability, Dragon Rush, it will immediately catch up to you!] The system notified Whittaker, who has already sensed that something was wrong.
He instantly called out Frost Shield, which materialized some meters below him, almost instantly, Frost's elemental shift was activated. Right then, a mesmerizing purplish hue burst out as the Horned Python straightened body proceeded to powerfully smash through the frost shield and it had instantly become fragmented.
It was only because of a last moment instant decision thanks to which Whittaker managed to evade disaster.
It was at this moment when the Venomous Dragon-Scaled Horned Python displayed its wisdom nature. Its body suddenly halted out in midair, and it swung its tail, whipping its purplish tail at Whittaker, who was right beneath, but beneath the boy was a Frost Bolt that has been released a moment ago.
Instantly, the Frost spellbook released an icy flicker and he switched places with the frost bolt, but the tail still brushed past his face and released a powerful wind gale that crashed on his chest, hurling him downwards to the surface; the home ground of the Horned Python.
The Frost spellbook moved down together with its owner, in the very chaotic moment, Whittaker released a whisper through his gritted teeth, and a Frost Bolt shot towards the ground, the Frost bolt reached the ground five meters before his body smashes into the ground.
Another Whisper was released out of his lips, instantly, he switched places with the frost bolt, right away, his feet touched the ground, almost immediately, his footstep turned illusory in the amethyst eyes of the horned python that descended from the skies.
Whittaker's body turned into consecutive a blur, as his body whisked towards the open trail; he has used the ability of his Azure-sky boots!
Before it even knew it, its prey has escaped towards an open trail and was beaming a taunting smile towards its direction while playfully waving his hands.
'How dare a meal play with me?' The beast rushed towards Whittaker, but it crashed into the mana walls that are effective for only magical beasts. The mana walls were enacted all around the open trail in the middle of the forest.
Before it even knew it, its prey has escaped to the safety intentionally created by Zachary, and the little prey was making fun of It by sticking his tongue out.
Whittaker kept on making fun of the ugly triangular head snake while it continued to glare right back at him with eyes tinged with venom. From the looks of it, the Venomous Dragon-Scaled horned python would have swallowed Whittaker whole if the mana wall wasn't separating the two.
After teasing it for a while, Whittaker continued on his path.
