Chapter 246: Portals to Grizzly Bear Mountain Range
Chapter 246: Portals to Grizzly Bear Mountain Range
What is this?
What's the test about?
What is happening?
The students were as confused as a horde of chicken being slaughtered. They looked at the mystifying symbol on their hands before staring at the head examiner for answers.
"You all have been bounded with the Recall formation. You will be teleported to safety when you're about to die in the grizzly mountain range. The medical team will provide you the best care and heal you of all your injuries, no matter how worse they are. However, in that case, you will undoubtedly lose all your points upon teleportation so try your best if you want a better grade." Lazarus explained as his eyes turned into a smile.
The students finally understood what's happening.
"Oh, I finally get it. Those who left the training ground because of cowardice and the unwillingness to get hurt or die failed. While those who remained to take the test even after knowing that there is a chance to die passed."
"Haha I am so lucky. I was just about to leave. Phew~"
"I feel bad for my friend. He left just a minute ago and lost the chance to make a lot of royal credits and get a better grade."
A lot of students have failed while some have passed. The test was to check the courage of the students. The students who stayed to take the test proved their courage. Besides that, a lot of teachers also started to respect them.
"Does anyone have any questions?"
Shadow immediately raised their hands
''Head examiner, is there a reward for completing the D-rank dungeon?"
Not just Head examiner Lazarus, but even examiners Ligya and Rio were baffled by his words and they stared at Shadow with wide-open eyes, the shock in their eyes and the incredulity showing completely on his face.
"Is he serious?" Rio thought that Shadow was joking, but from the looks of it, he was very serious.
"Maybe he doesn't know how dangerous a dungeon break is?" Light believed that Shadow was ignorant of the world.
"You both are wrong. The boy's eyes are burning with ambitions. He meant what he said." Lazarus said to the two examiners before smiling towards Shadow. "If you are planning to clear the D-rank then you must know that rewards come with danger. Truth is, the recall formation won't work if you're inside the dungeon, but a unique reward will be given to those who take part in clearing the dungeon."
"What reward?"
The head examiner's eyes narrowed into a smile.
"During my adventures, I came across pretty awesome people and also obtained recipes of unique potions and elixirs that aren't manufactured in our world." Lazarus said, "I will give a mana seed strengthening elixir to the mage with the most exam points. Similarly, the battle master with the highest points will be given a battle core cleansing elixir. Both these potions shared an effect similar to their names, I believe you understand the worth and rareness of these elixirs."
Just like what he said, there really weren't any elixirs that could strengthen the suction force of the mana seed or cleanse battle cores from impurities in the awakened continent. Undoubtedly, Lazarus was not lying as he was a Dean and had a reputation to maintain. Thus, what he was saying was also the truth.
The students stood with their mouths agape. Nevertheless, their excitement soon died down as they realized that they won't be fighting to get their hands on the elixirs.
Truth is, the elixirs were rare. However, they weren't strong or courageous enough to jump straight into the mouth of danger. They just weren't powerful enough to challenge the D-rank dungeon and make it out alive.
"What did the Head Examiner mean by his words? Could it be that there are other worlds? Wasn't that just a myth?" Yato asked. He was confused as this was the first time that he came across the possibility of their existing other worlds.
Ruth already knew why Yato was ignorant of this knowledge. Yato didn't study in the library, he just trained like monkeys, which caused a major hole in his knowledge.
"It isn't just a myth," Ruth said.
"There are various worlds with different and unique lifeforms. Furthermore, going to and fro from the world is also possible but we would need to become high-rankers or gain a high enough privilege level." Shadow clarified.
Although Duke Williams didn't like this son of his, this matter wasn't made public, and Shadow still could use his status as the duke's son to obtain information or even money and treasures if he likes. Besides, he was connected to the great Shen Zi Yi Guild whose library stored thousands plus years of knowledge.
"I am still at the peak of F-rank. It will take years before I can even reach the peak of my potential. But it's even harder to increase the privilege level."
"We will gain a +1 increase in our privilege level when we complete the dungeon, and that will also tremendously increase our final grade. If we get an S+ grade then our privilege level will increase by +1." Whittaker said.
"Are you really serious?" Peter looked at Whittaker and then at Shadow.
"Dead serious."
Peter chuckled. "I will go wherever you go, even if it means entering a deadly dungeon."
"I wanna give it a try." Yato also supported the decision. He has a good reason to confront danger for the sake of glory and fortune.
"I'm fine with challenging the dungeon," Ruth said.
As the leader of the party, Shadow's decision was absolute. Moreover, Whittaker was also supporting his decision. Furthermore, the three mages agreed to get a better grade.
Meanwhile, the head examiner pointed towards the black-haired examiner Rio on the side and said,
"Elder Rio, if you may."
"Gladly!" Elder Rio replied before twelves magic circles appeared before the students as portals opened up in thin air.
"Each of these twelve portals connects to the different safe zones established in the Grizzly Bear Mountain range. If you are ready to take the exams then step forth and enter the portals! But remember, there are only seven days before the exam finishes. So don't be lazy."
