Chapter 406 Display of Arrogrance
Erebos… the damage you have done… how do you want all of this to end?
Her thoughts were interrupted by screams of pain and the sound of metal clanging.
Maybe these voices know where Nanako is, she thought.
She walked down the path that Erebos had erupted open, her eyes scanning the surroundings. Monstrous creatures, about 5'5" in height, with sharp claws and soulless eyes, stretched out before her, their forms blending into the rugged landscape.
Huh, what the hell does the Demon King have going on with his planets? she mused. I guess I can't complain since we only have a handful of planets ourselves… not that we care.
The screams grew louder, accompanied by the unmistakable sounds of a fierce battle. Sanguina's heart pounded in her chest as she approached the source. The air was thick with the stench of blood and sweat, mingling with the earthy scent of the terrain.
Emerging from the dense foliage, she spotted a group of warriors locked in combat with the monstrous creatures. Their weapons clashed with the beasts' claws, sparks flying with each strike. Among them, she recognized Nanako, her movements swift and precise, cutting down the creatures with practiced ease.
Sanguina's eyes narrowed, focusing on the battle. She unsheathed her sword, its blade gleaming in the dim light, and charged forward. The creatures turned their soulless eyes toward her, their growls filling the air as they prepared to attack.
Her sword glinted with a red gem at the center as her dress flowed in the wind, dancing along with it in a coordinated movement. Her pale skin shone under the bright sun as she planted her foot firmly into the ground, launching off with blinding speed. Her blade met the neck of the nearest creature with precision.
Her eyes glowed a vivid red as she twisted her wrist, executing a powerful slice. A flaming crescent shot out from her blade, incinerating over thirty creatures in an instant, relieving the men fighting them.
As the bodies disintegrated, small blue crystals took their place. Her eyes sparkled with curiosity as she picked one up, holding it toward the sky. "Wow, who would have thought such a precious material would spawn in this world… I wonder if this is normal for the worlds of the Demon King."
She glanced around, her gaze falling on the men nearby. "Hey, do any of you know who Nanako is by chance?" she called out, throwing her sword over her shoulder.
Two men, clad in silk purple, stepped forward. "Who are you? We are the King's Royal Guard, and why do you want to know where Lady Nanako is?" one of them demanded, suspicion evident in his voice.
Sanguina lowered the crystal, meeting their gaze. "I'm Sanguina, daughter of the Vampire King. I'm here to find Ty, and Nanako is part of my mission. Can you help me locate her?"
The guards exchanged a glance, their expressions wary but respectful. "Lady Nanako is currently engaged in a mission inside the cave," one of them replied. "What is your business with her?"
Sanguina's eyes glowed with determination. "It's crucial I find Ty. Nanako entrusted him with a fairy that might help us locate him. I need to speak with her to find a similar fairy."
Certainly! I'll enhance the scene and slightly continue the narrative, focusing on sensory details and maintaining your guidelines:
"Well, my name is Vick, and the King left myself and his other Royal Guard in charge of this outpost until he returns," Vick explained, his voice strained with the weight of responsibility. Vick was a tall, lean man with short, tousled dark hair and piercing blue eyes that held a mixture of determination and weariness.
His face was smudged with dirt and sweat, a testament to the battles he had endured. His armor, once shining and pristine, was now dented and scratched, bearing the marks of countless skirmishes.
He glanced around at the weary soldiers, their own armor similarly battered. The distant sounds of clashing steel and monstrous roars echoed through the air, a constant reminder of the danger they faced.
"Our magic barely has any effect, and most of the heavy hitters are either in the caves or elsewhere defending the kingdom. Could you stay for the rest of the day and help with defending this section of the kingdom?" he asked, his tone both hopeful and desperate.
Sanguina tilted her head in confusion, her eyes narrowing. "What's the big deal? These things are weak fodder... Also, they are only spawning in what, this few-mile stretch? Why only here?"
Vick sighed, his shoulders slumping. "Those are some heavy words, but it's the fact they respawn endlessly and it seems we are getting worn down... They started spawning when the cave emerged, which is why we sent some of our strongest warriors inside, including our own King."
As Vick spoke, a chill wind swept through the outpost, carrying the scent of blood and smoke. The sky above darkened with storm clouds, mirroring the grim atmosphere on the ground.
Sanguina could see the determination in Vick's eyes, a resolve forged by countless battles and the desperate need to protect his people.
Before Sanguina could respond, a loud crash erupted from the center of the battlefield 40 feet away from them; the ground trembled as a massive creature emerged from the shadows, its hulking form towering over the outpost.
Its skin was a dark, mottled green, covered in scales that shimmered with a sickly luminescence.
Each step it took left deep imprints in the earth, and its claws, long and jagged, scraped against the ground with a bone-chilling screech.
The creature's eyes glowed with malevolent light, casting an eerie red glow that cut through the darkness.
A pair of twisted horns jutted from its head, and its maw, lined with rows of razor-sharp teeth, opened to emit a guttural roar that echoed across the landscape.
Vick drew his sword, the blade gleaming despite the cloudy weather. The air was thick with tension, and the distant sounds of battle seemed to fade away in the presence of this new threat. The creature stood at the center of the fighting area, about forty feet from the outpost, its presence a looming menace.
Sanguina began stretching before she stated, "You all can go ahead and get some sleep. I'll clean out all these creatures and then you take me to Nanako. Sound fair?"
Vick spoke up, his voice tense. "While that is admirable, this creature is like nothing we've faced so far. It could be several ranks above anything someone can handle alone!"
Sanguina watched the creature slowly emerge further, its soulless, brute body moving with an unnatural fluidity. Its roar was a chilling reminder of the danger it posed, and the ground seemed to shudder in response to its presence.
Unphased, she turned back to Vick and asked, "So how do you fight anyways?"
"Oh, well, my power is that anything my blade comes into contact with becomes a quarter of an inch slower."n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"I see. I'm not from here, so I just fight with pure energy. Go ahead and rest up, I'll take things from here."
