Chapter 34: 1st-ranked Siegfried Lionheart
Chapter 34: 1st-ranked Siegfried Lionheart
Shye and Shirley were on the way back to the warrior course arena.
After witnessing an amazing scout course match, the two couldn't help but talk about it on the way back.
"Scouts are scary in their own way, aren't they? They're all so fast and so good at reading moves!" Shirley said
"Yeah, it would probably be annoying for us warriors to defeat them in a duel but it seems that their bodies aren't that sturdy though so I think we can defeat them in just one or two hits." Shye replied
He honestly thinks that although the scouts would be annoying and hard to fight against, it wasn't impossible to win since their bodies weren't tough at all.
After a few more minutes of walking while casually chatting, Shye and Shirley arrived at the warrior course arena and as usual, their classmates teased them for a bit before letting them off.
Recently, the two of them were always together whenever there was free time in between their matches so their classmates couldn't help but tease them whenever they got the chance to.
By now, no matter how dense Shye was, there was no way he wouldn't notice Shirley's intentions after being teased most of the time by their classmates.
Still, there was no harm in seeing how this would play out. He didn't have a girlfriend anyway and Shirley was a hot and beautiful woman.
In addition to this, he actually enjoys being together with Shirley so he might as well give it a try.
Instructor Fienna looked at the two of them and smiled.
She was relieved that Shye didn't lose himself due to fame and was still the same old him, approachable and easygoing most of the time.
Most talented young adventurers lose their own way after experiencing too much admiration from others. Not only do they become a bit lazy, they also tend to grow more arrogant as time goes by.
As a result, they grow up to be overly arrogant but mediocre adventurers who lose their lives because of overestimating their own abilities.
Fienna was really fond of Shye as her student so she didn't want him to end up like that.
It was better for him to enjoy himself together with a woman than lose himself to fame and glory.
"16th-ranked Shye Crowley's class, 1st-ranked Siegfried Lionheart's class, please come up to the stage."
While everyone in Shye's class was busy doing their own things, the referee suddenly called their class to go up on stage.
They weren't ready at all because they thought that the match before theirs would take a long time to finish and who would've thought that a class would surrender in the losers' bracket?
Unexpectedly, 9th-ranked Kirkland willingly surrendered so their match finished too early and both Shye's and Siegfried's classes were caught unprepared for the sudden match.
Still, whether they were ready or not, they had to fight. Both classes slowly walked towards the stage after retrieving their desired weapons from the weapon rack.
Although Shye knew that Siegfried was strong, he didn't know anything about his personality so by default, he assumed him to be someone arrogant.
Shye stared fiercely at Siegfried as they met face-to-face on the stage with their classmates right behind them.
Siegfried smiled widely at Shye and said
"That's a good look! Makes me want to fight you even more. However, I also do think that you deserve to go to the finals after all of your hard-fought matches."
"As for me, I have been too idle in this tournament so I shall give you a free victory just this once. Let's fight in the finals.
He then looked at the referee and said "I surrender"
Shye was in utter shock and disbelief at what just happened. He didn't expect Siegfried to be an honorable and battle-maniac type of guy.
He didn't have an ounce of arrogance in him at all, unlike the other top-ranked students.
Shye was already prepared for a tough fight but was instead rewarded with an easy win.
Still, this was better for him because he didn't have to reveal his new cards immediately after Eusford exposed all of his skills.
Both classes walked down from the stage and returned to their seats.
The crowd seemed a bit disappointed due to today's lack of action. Both Kirkland and Siegfried surrendered their matches so there was nothing to watch.
Just as he was about to sit, Shye suddenly remembered something so he quickly looked at Leonardo Regulus with a mocking smile on his face.
As expected, Leonardo was currently gnashing his teeth and clenching his fists in anger.
He willingly surrendered early because he planned to have the top-ranked warrior students battle it out first in the winners' bracket while he advanced steadily in the lower bracket against the lower-ranked warrior students.
Leonardo was already pissed off at Theoden's defeat and now, Eusford and Siegfried were also in the losers' bracket while the guy he hated, Shye Crowley, was chilling alone in the winners' bracket.
He at least hoped that the loser between Shye and Siegfried would be either exhausted or unconscious but unluckily for him, they were both unscathed.
Leonardo couldn't help but regret the fact that he surrendered against Eusford.
He was confident that he had a chance to win against Eusford if he used all his cards right but now, all his plans were foiled since he had to fight all top three students before earning a fight against Shye.
If he couldn't even have a shot against Shye after everything that he said to him, then he would be a campus clown!
"Serves you right..."
Shye muttered to himself before turning his attention away from Leonardo. He then opened his system and checked his points.
His eyes almost popped out of their sockets after seeing that he had 2100 unused points. Shye smiled as he excitedly browsed the system's [Shop] and [Upgrades]
