Chapter 683: 682 You just ignore me
Qin Mu was surprised that Jiang Liu called them.
Upon returning home, Mo Xiuchen was too tired and headed upstairs to take a shower first. Qin Mu and Luo Haofeng sat at the bar in the living room, drinking and discussing the possible situations they might encounter when meeting with Fu Jingyi in two days. Luo Haofeng coldly said, “That Liao Dongxing doesn’t seem like a good guy. There’s definitely a plot waiting for us the day after tomorrow.”
Qin Mu’s eyebrows were furrowed, his slender eyes gaze firmly at the drink in his glass. His fingers unconsciously turned the high glass cup, making the liquid inside slowly swirl.
“What would you do if you were Liao Dongxing?”
He looked up at Luo Haofeng who pondered momentarily before saying, “If I were Liao Dongxing, I wouldn’t believe your bull about confidentiality—hm, if you want Fu Jingyi, then the best strategy is to use Fu Jingyi to eliminate you guys.”
“Yes, but only after obtaining the evidence.”
Qin Mu added in a chilling voice that contradicted the season.
Liao Dongxing wouldn’t believe their promise of not exposing him once he handed over Fu Jingyi. The most straightforward solution would be to silence them.
Once he had the evidence and silenced them, he could rest easy.
Luo Haofeng sneered dismissively, “Liao Dongxing wants to use Fu Jingyi to take us down but he’ll need the capability to do so.”
“Capability?”
Qin Mu frowned, a cold gleam in his eyes. He slowly said, “Fu Jingyi hates the Gu Family. If Liao Dongxing uses the Gu Family as leverage to make a deal with Fu Jingyi, I wonder if he would accept.”
“The Gu Family, you mean Liao Dongxing offering to help Fu Jingyi deal with Uncle Gu in exchange for having him take us out? But I feel that although Fu Jingyi hates Uncle Gu, he doesn’t wish for his death.”
Luo Haofeng analyzed calmly.
Qin Mu nodded, “Fu Jingyi doesn’t want Uncle Gu’s life, he just wants him to suffer. And he wants to surpass Uncle Gu in medical achievements. That’s why he poisoned Wen Ran—to provoke Uncle Gu. He might soon spread another virus he recently developed to Kangning Hospital. He’ll need help for that.”
“In that case, he would probably agree.”
Luo Haofeng’s face changed, his voice tense.
Qin Mu pressed his lips tightly together, his expression cold. It was unclear what he was thinking and he didn’t respond.
His cell phone rang at that moment. Glancing at the unfamiliar number, Qin Mu narrowed his eyes. After going through the numbers in his mind and confirming he hadn’t seen it before, he answered the phone with a cool, “Hello!”
“President Qin, this is Jiang Liu.”
The voice on the other end surprised Qin Mu slightly. He looked up at Luo Haofeng who was curiously watching him.
“What can I do for you?”
Qin Mu’s voice held no emotion. His brain whirred as he thought about why Jiang Liu would be calling.
“President Qin, do you have time? There are things I want to speak to you about which are not suitable for a phone call.”
Qin Mu narrowed his eyes slightly and asked a little hesitantly, “Where do you want to meet?”
“I’m at the cafe across from the club we were at tonight. It’s quiet here, good for conversation.” Jiang Liu paused and then said honestly, “I can’t afford to treat you to anywhere expensive, but the prices here are okay.”
“Alright, I’ll be there in half an hour.”
After Qin Mu ended the call, he told Luo Haofeng, who was wearing a curious expression, “That was Jiang Liu. We didn’t look for him but he took the initiative to find us. He says he has something to discuss with me. Are you coming?”
Luo Haofeng’s eyebrows rose slightly and a smirk appeared in his charming eyes, “Of course I’m going.”
He drained the rest of his drink in one gulp and got to his feet. “Should we let Mo Xiuchen know?”
Qin Mu put down his glass. “I’ll go upstairs to get my coat and let Mo Xiuchen know on the way.”

G City
The country nights lacked the hustle and bustle of the city, making them extraordinarily peaceful and beautiful.
Wearing a loose set of pajamas, Wen Ran was partly curled up on the balcony. Her reflective eyes gazed thoughtfully at the twinkling stars in the sky, but her thoughts were a thousand miles away.
“Ranran, happy birthday”
The sudden voice, like a spell, immediately pulled back her wandering thoughts. She quickly pulled her phone out from her pocket. She looked at the name flashing on the screen and the handsome, smiling face.
The deep eyes filled with humor were gently looking at her. His voice was magnetic and tender, filled with deep affection as he said ‘Ranran, happy birthday’.
This gave her an illusion—in her mind he wasn’t in A City thousands of miles away but right in front of her, smiling at her.
A smile tugged at the corners of her lips and her eyes glittered. She caressed the handsome face displayed on the screen with her fingers before answering, “Hello, Mo Xiuchen.”
“Ranran, are you still in the country?”
Mo Xiuchen’s voice, transmitted through the airwaves, came to her gently.
Wen Ran’s gaze fell on the cherry tree in front of the yard. Thinking of the last time he stood on it, laughing at her, soft feelings welled up in her heart. She softly said,
“Mmm, still in the country. The cherries are now ripe. Xiaoxiao and Sister Ting both say that they want to go back only after finishing all the cherries.”
“Haha, this idea isn’t bad.”
Mo Xiuchen’s laughter was pleasant to the ears. His voice, filled with humor, was indescribably charming and sexy.
His infectious laughter caused Wen Ran to chuckle, “Yes, this idea isn’t bad. Sister Ting took a few days off, Xiaoxiao isn’t working anyway, as for me, I can work at any time.”
“It seems that when I planted those cherry trees back then, it was a good decision. Ranran, if you enjoy staying there, you should stay longer. Once the cherries are finished, there will be other fruits. I’ll come and pick you up.”
Mo Xiuchen joked as he reminisced, When he planted those cherry trees, he never imagined that one day the woman of his dreams would enjoy them and taste the cherries from the trees he himself had planted.
Wen Ran’s eyebrows rose slightly. She cheerfully replied, “Okay. I will stay here until you return. Mo Xiuchen, do you want me to save some cherries for you?”
“No need, as long as you like to eat them. When I return, I’ll plant other fruits for you. I’ll make sure there are fruits for you to eat throughout the entire year.”
Mo Xiuchen was serious—it was not mere lip service. He was really considering their future together.
He wanted to plant many kinds of fruits for his Ranran. He’d plant all her favorite fruit trees. When the fruit was ripe, he would climb the trees to pick it for her, just like the few days they spent together in the country. He didn’t desire a spectacular love, only a peaceful one that withstands the test of time.
Wen Ran rubbed her sore nose and said coquettishly, “Don’t lie to me. I remember your words. If you haven’t planted all my favorite trees, I’ll ignore you.”
“Alright, if I lie to you, you can ignore me.”
Although Mo Xiuchen’s voice was soft, it carried a serious tone, like a promise made to her.
