Chapter 511: I accept all 510
Chapter 511: I accept all 510
The office was unusually quiet.
Mo Xiuchen didn’t say a word, his gaze deeply focused on Wen Ran, who was applying medicine for him. She lowered her head, her face obscured, but from her tightly pursed lips and gentle movements, he could see her concern.
In his heartache, a sense of warmth seeped in.
After gently applying the ointment for him, Wen Ran blew lightly on the area, her gaze lingering on his burn for a few seconds before she looked up and quietly asked, “Should we go to the hospital?”
Mo Xiuchen shook his head, just watching her intently.
Wen Ran’s heart fluttered, and she loosened her grip on his hand. As his hand slipped away, she started walking towards the door with the ointment.
“Ranran, where are you going?”
Behind her, Mo Xiuchen’s voice was filled with urgency and unease. Before his voice had fully faded, he was in front of her, his tall figure blocking her way, his deep eyes revealing a panic that deeply hurt her heart.
Wen Ran’s heart skipped a beat. She handed him the ointment and quietly said, “I’m going to get a mop to clean up the water on the floor.”
She had hastily used the water from the water dispenser to rinse his burn earlier. Now, there was a puddle of water on the floor, which if left unchecked, might practically become a fishpond!
“I’ll call someone to take care of it.”
His heart immediately dropped from its sharp rise at her words. He strode quickly to his desk and dialed an internal number.
Wen Ran didn’t object. As she watched him make the call, she returned to her seat on the sofa, her mind in turmoil.
Earlier, she had wanted to tell him about the decision she had pondered over for several days. However, after witnessing him unknowingly burning his hand, she found herself unable to say it.
Despite his cold and assertive demeanor, capable of controlling the whole business field like a storm, his emotional vulnerability in front of her was unbearably touching.
In front of her, he wasn’t the president of a conglomerate, nor did he maintain a cold facade. He was simply a man who loved her and needed her love in return.
He could be strong enough to shield her from the world, giving her everything, but he was also so fragile that he couldn’t be without her…
The cleaning lady arrived quickly. After she finished cleaning, she quietly left the office.
Mo Xiuchen placed the tea he had prepared for her on the coffee table. Without sitting down, he said, “Ranran, wait for me a moment. There are a few things I need to take care of. Once I’m done, we can talk.”
“Okay!”
Wen Ran replied softly.
Mo Xiuchen gave her a slight smile and returned to his desk. Despite his recent burn, he seemed unaffected, delving back into his work as usual, with Wen Ran by his side.
The atmosphere was unexpectedly calm in the spacious office.
Leaning against the sofa, Wen Ran held her cup of tea, her gaze quietly falling on Mo Xiuchen, who was engrossed in his work. His working appearance was indescribably captivating. Whenever she had nothing to do, she enjoyed watching him quietly.
She simply watched him, saying nothing, thinking nothing.
A brief moment of tranquility led to a warm morning, and time flew by quickly.
When Mo Xiuchen had taken care of everything, he lifted his head and met Wen Ran’s clear, aqueous eyes. The corner of his lips lifted into a gentle smile as he said, “Ranran, wait for me two more minutes, let me tidy up a bit.”
Wen Ran didn’t respond, instead giving him a small smile.
Even if she was going to leave, she hoped to minimize the damage caused to him. Staying with him the whole morning and then accompanying him for lunch wasn’t hard for her.
Once Mo Xiuchen had tidied up, his tall figure emerged from behind his desk. He walked over to the sofa and stretched out a hand towards her, “I didn’t have breakfast this morning. Come with me to lunch first.”
Wen Ran furrowed her brows, placing her hand in his and standing up with his help. In an accusatory tone, she asked, “Why didn’t you have breakfast?”
“You weren’t at home, and I was too lazy to eat alone.”
Mo Xiuchen answered nonchalantly, acting as if the panicked person wasn’t him.
At his words, Wen Ran’s heart felt a sharp pang of pain.
“Don’t frown. I’ll eat extra at lunch to make up for the missed breakfast.” He watched her knit her eyebrows together and, in a gentle, worried tone, stroked her forehead with his rough fingers.
Wen Ran shivered, lowering her eyes and avoiding his overly tender gaze.
Seeing her avert her eyes, a shadow passed across Mo Xiuchen’s, but he quickly masked it with a smile, saying cheerfully, “Shall we ask Ah Mu and Ah Feng to join us? They’ve been on vacation for the past few days, and I don’t know where they’ve been cavorting.”
As soon as he was about to take out his phone, Wen Ran blurted out, “Don’t invite them.”
Mo Xiuchen’s hand remained in his pocket upon hearing her words, a hint of puzzlement showing on his face.
Wen Ran pursed her lips and met his gaze, her voice gentle, “I don’t want to be disturbed. Could it just be the two of us for this meal?”
The look in Mo Xiuchen’s eyes changed. After several seconds of locked gazes, he suddenly grabbed the back of her neck, bending down to deeply kiss her lips.
“…”
Wen Ran trembled all over, her clear water-like eyes wide with astonishment.
His kiss came so suddenly that she was taken off guard. As the familiar and hot breath engulfed her, a strong current shot through her body and mind. A moment later, she came out of her daze and instinctively struggled.
“Xi…”
Before she could voice her objection, Mo Xiuchen seized the opportunity. His kiss was like a violent storm, sweeping over her with overwhelming passion, taking her innocence, and melding it with his longing, pain, and myriad emotions from these past few days.
Wen Ran’s struggle was futile, and she eventually gave up.
The moment the kiss ended, Mo Xiuchen’s gaze on her was filled with complicated emotions. He looked into her clear, unmoved eyes as if he had been doused head-to-toe with ice water.
“Ranran!”
He softly called out to her, his voice sounding raspy and fraught with concealed tension.
Wen Ran moistened her lips. The taste of him still lingered there. She took a step back, creating some distance between them, and calmly said, “Let’s go eat.”
Mo Xiuchen suddenly laughed, a self-derisive sound, mournfully saying, “Ranran, I shouldn’t deceive myself, nor should I have forced you to spend the morning with me, or ask you to accompany me to lunch.”
His words came out slowly, filled with melancholy.
Wen Ran paled slightly, listening to him say, “You can tell me your decision now. Whatever the outcome is, I’ll accept it.”
His voice was filled with an unstoppable despair. It didn’t matter how hard he tried; he couldn’t win her back. He clearly felt her emotions during their last kiss.
They had been married for nearly half a year. The number of times they had kissed was beyond even his own count.
Beyond her initial resistance, she gradually learned to respond later on. Even though her kissing technique was amateurish, he could still feel her emotions. However, during their last kiss, there was no response from her.
When she couldn’t get away from him, she chose to give up and endure. Even worse, she felt guilty and regretful, contemplating using their kiss to apologize for him getting hurt…
