Chapter 504: 503 I don’t want to see you
Wen Ran’s words didn’t affect Mo Xiuchen. Although she didn’t give him the exact address, he smirked, stood up, made a give-me-a-moment motion to Luo Haofeng and Qin Mu, and gently said into his phone, “If you’re not here, I won’t be able to sleep in the afternoon anyway. I’m coming to find you.”
Worried she might refuse him, he hung up the phone as soon as he finished speaking.
Wen Ran frowned at her phone. From the side, Gu Kai chuckled, “Ranran, is Xiuchen going to come find us?”
“Yep!”
She glanced at him, pursed her lips, and put away her phone.
“Brother, when will the check-up results come out at the earliest?”
Wen Ran placed her phone back in her pocket and asked flatly.
“At earliest tonight. Don’t stress too much about it. The medication you took for the past few months wasn’t a waste.”
Gu Kai comforted her gently. He was optimistic. As long as there was some improvement in Wen Ran’s condition, there would be hope for her and Xiuchen’s relationship to continue.
“Ranran, your brother is correct. Don’t worry too much, don’t be nervous. Not knowing the truth is the best state of mind to be in.”
No wonder many families choose not to tell their terminally ill loved ones about their condition. If the patient doesn’t know, then they wouldn’t have the mental stress, and their condition can improve faster.
During the decade where Wen Ran lost her memories, she did not know about the traumas of her childhood. She lived happily and showed no noticeable effects. She was just like any healthy person.
If she hadn’t lost her memory and was constantly haunted by those nightmarish childhood memories, who knows what her situation would have been.
Wen Ran manages to put on a weary smile and said brightly, “Dad, I’m not worried. With such brilliant doctors like you and brother, I believe I’ll surely get better.”

By the time Mo Xiuchen came to the restaurant, Wen Ran and the others had already finished eating.
“Xiuchen, we were just about to leave. Have you had your meal?”
Gu Yan greeted Mo Xiuchen with a smile. The latter looked towards Wen Ran and seeing her avoid his gaze, a touch of gloom flashed in his eyes. It quickly returned to being serene and warm. “Dad, I ate a bit just now. I planned to come here and eat some more, but since you’re done, I won’t eat.”
“I’ll go see why Ah Kai is taking so long to pay. You should chat for a bit with Ranran.”
Gu Yan stood up and didn’t comment on whether Xiuchen should eat. Bai Xiaoxiao’s eyes twinkled. Seeing Gu Yan about to leave, she quickly cried, “Uncle Gu, let me come with you.”
If he leaves, she would have to play third-wheel in the private room. She wasn’t about to stay here.
“Sure!”
With a chuckle, Gu Yan pushed Xiaoxiao out of the private room. Thoughtfully, he closed the door for Xiuchen and Wen Ran.
The moment the door closed, the atmosphere in the private room instantly changed.
Mo Xiuchen strode over to Wen Ran, lowered his eyes, and looked at her form, somewhat unnatural in the chair. He softly called, “Ranran!”
Wen Ran’s heartbeat was somewhat erratic. No matter how much mental preparation she did, whenever Mo Xiuchen appeared in front of her, all her mental strategies collapsed.
In her peripheral vision, she saw him pull out a chair in front of her and sit down. He leaned slightly forward and his refreshing and pleasant scent lingered at the tip of her nose. His smile felt like a soft whisper, “Ranran, are you full yet?”
She finally lifted her gaze to meet his, her lips carrying a hint of pleading, “Xiuchen, could you not be like this?”
Mo Xiuchen had a look of pain in his eyes. Her tone of voice made him ache. But in a moment, a smile floated back to his eyes. He tenderly said, “Ranran, I’ve always been like this. You’ve known this for a long time, haven’t you?”
Indeed, he had always been this way.
Cold as ice to others, but warm to her, radiating the tenderness of spring.
Other women found it hard to even draw his gaze, yet ever since he met her, his eyes rarely shifted away from her. Now when she asked him to change, it felt like a stab in his heart.
Nevertheless he kept the smile on his face.
Wen Ran’s face changed slightly. She saw the tender smile in his eyes and suddenly, she felt utterly exhausted, completely drained. Regardless of how she treated him, he remained the same.
His warmth was superficial, but deep down he domineered their relationship. He made her unable to feel angry or annoyed, but sentimentally attached instead.
“Xiuchen, you promised me three days.”
She really didn’t want to see him. His appearance, under one pretext or another, disrupted her emotions, making her miss his tenderness and struggle to leave his side.
Mo Xiuchen affectionately remarked, “Yes, I indeed promised you three days. However, I never said that I would leave you alone during these three days. Ranran, I think being with you would be more beneficial for you to reach a decision. I haven’t eaten much. Will you come with me to grab a bite?”
As he spoke, his hand reached out for hers.
Wen Ran dodged his hand and irritation flashed across her beautiful face, “However, I don’t want to see you.”
She felt she had to be cruel—cruel to him, and cruel to herself.
“No problem, you can close your eyes whenever you don’t want to see me. I haven’t eaten much, I’m a tad hungry right now. Ranran, even if you’re mad at me, please at least accompany me for dinner before being mad at me…”
“Mo Xiuchen, let me tell you one more time, I meant what I said that day. If you think this approach can get me to change my decision, you’re wrong.”
Wen Ran suddenly stood up in anger, staring at Mo Xiuchen furiously.
She couldn’t stand him behaving this way. Every time she saw him, she would recall Fu Jingyi’s evil smile and his words would echo in her ears.
“Ranran!”
Mo Xiuchen’s face turned a shade paler as he too stood up.
Wen Ran’s breaths came out irregular and she sucked in a deep breath, saying coldly, “Starting now, give me three days. You’re not allowed to appear before me. If you keep pushing me, don’t blame me for doing something you’ll regret for the rest of your life!”
Mo Xiuchen paled upon hearing her words.
His lips pursed tight as he stared intensely at her. He tried to digest what she had said, ‘Something you’ll regret for the rest of your life.’ What could it be?
However, he found himself too afraid to guess. Just thinking of the possibilities made his heart ache.
“In three days, I’ll give you my answer.”
Ignoring the sharp pain in her heart, Wen Ran brushed him off with those words before quickly running out of the room.
In the private room, Mo Xiuchen stood, frozen by the table. His deep eyes were filled with intense pain. Even though Wen Ran was no longer in sight, he maintained his pose, staring at the doorway.
Wen Ran ran into the bathroom, locked herself in a cubicle and let her tears flow freely!
It was only when her phone rang that she sucked in a deep breath, wiped her tears, pushed her sadness aside, walked out of the cubicle, washed her face a few times, managed a forced smile in the mirror, and then left the restroom.
