“Why am I not leveling up yet?”
Perched on a sizable green boulder within the trap zone, Lee Tian stared at his system panel, his mood somber.
For seven days, he and Green had been hunting in this area.
In that time, he had slain numerous beasts, amassing a wealth of Experience Points and Evolution Points. He had even grown to the size of a small cat, having reached High Rank Level 10.
Yet, for some reason, his level had plateaued after hitting High Rank Level 10. Despite his relentless hunting and accumulation of Experience Points, he couldn’t break past this ceiling.
He let out a deep sigh.
Green, noticing his demeanor, realized that Lee Tian’s size hadn’t changed in days and understood his inner turmoil.
Looking at Lee Tian, Green ventured, “Big brother, are you worried because you haven’t transformed into a Spirit Beast?”
Lee Tian turned to it, puzzled. “What’s a Spirit Beast?”
Green’s mention of Spirit Beasts piqued his curiosity.
“Spirit Beasts are creatures that can absorb the spiritual energy of Heaven and Earth to cultivate, granting them the power to shatter the heavens and obliterate the earth!” Green explained.
“Plus, Spirit Beasts can evolve into humans!”
“My dream,” Green declared, craning its neck skyward, “is to one day become human!”
“How can I become a Spirit Beast?” Lee Tian inquired.
“It’s quite challenging for you to become a Spirit Beast, big brother. It seems you need to unlock some sort of Spiritual Aperture or the like. Only then can you absorb the Spiritual Qi of Heaven and Earth and truly become a Spirit Beast,” Green said with a sigh.
“Even the mighty Swordtooth Tiger remains a Mortal Beast, struggling to evolve into a Spirit Beast. I suspect you’re facing the same hurdle now.”
“Didn’t you mention there’s a group of Spirit Beasts in the deep mountains? How do they manage that?” Lee Tian pressed.
“They’re born with noble bloodlines; they’re Spirit Beasts from birth!” Green replied with a heavy sigh. “Unlike us, doomed to live as mere Mortal Beasts.”
Lee Tian let out a cold snort, his eyes flashing with defiance. “Nonsense! I refuse to be some helpless creature at the whims of others. I aim to rule the abyss!”
“Big brother, then take me with you on the path to power!”
“You wish!” Green scoffed.
“Quiet down, I think we’ve got prey heading our way!” Lee Tian signaled for silence.
Peering beyond the trap zone, he could barely make out a yellow-furred animal approaching.
A surge of excitement filled him; this was the first prey to wander into the trap area in days!
The creature, a small tiger with a pair of underdeveloped, sword-like fangs flanking its mouth, finally entered the trap zone.
The tiger’s fangs dangled from its upper jaw, resembling two downward-hanging swords.
Seeing the prey, Lee Tian’s eyes gleamed. He turned to Green and commanded, “Green, go! Lead that little one into the trap!”
But Green stood frozen, its mouth agape in horror.
From its wide-open jaws came a quivering whisper, “Swordtooth Tiger!”
