Chapter 57: The Traitor
Chapter 57
Over the next few days, Song JinXing finally experienced firsthand how difficult it was for women during their periods.
Zhong Ruanxing had made it sound so easy, but it was far more than just a little pain. Even the slightest movement hurt terribly! Not to mention jumping around doing fight scenes - every move made Song JinXing feel like someone was punching him hard in the chest.
Aside from the pain, there was discomfort in the lower abdomen, cold hands and feet, fatigue, and lack of energy. Mood swings and irritability too.
In short, the boss had a very tough time these past few days.
Thinking about how lightly Zhong Ruanxing had talked about it, she must've gotten used to it after so many years. Plus, compared to women with painful periods, she definitely had it much easier. Song JinXing had complex feelings about it.
Every day, Zhong Ruanxing sent messages asking about his condition, likely afraid he'd feel embarrassed. She even took the initiative to share with him her own embarrassing stories from back then.
"The first time I got my period, I was in class. And I was even wearing pink pants! Can you imagine that scene? After class when I stood up to get some water, the girl behind me suddenly started screaming my name, saying I was bleeding!"
People are strange creatures. They forget many past joys and sorrows, yet remember every embarrassment clearly.
Even now, Zhong Ruanxing felt that experience was so lame: "I was scared stiff too. I could feel the blood flowing down my legs, but didn't dare move. Just stood there bawling. Finally our class prefect ran over and wrapped his uniform around my waist, then took me to the infirmary." In the end, she added wistfully: "The prefect really was a good guy."
Holding the phone, Song JinXing pictured in his mind what Zhong Ruanxing looked like as a student back then. She must've been the brightest, most outstanding girl in school.
Zhong Ruanxing went on, "So don't feel embarrassed at all. This is a very normal biological feature for women, just like morning wood for you guys. They're both biological manifestations of being male or female. We need to reject period shaming! Reject sexual shaming!"
The corner of Song JinXing's eye twitched again as he gritted his teeth. "Zhong Ruanxing!"
Zhong Ruanxing said seriously, "I just told you not to feel ashamed, yet you started feeling ashamed immediately? You're really stubborn, huh!"
Song JinXing felt both exasperated and amused.
But after chatting with her, he really didn't feel so uncomfortable about it anymore.
Right before hanging up, he heard her mutter: "Some people even try to hide buying pads. But many girls in remote mountainous areas can't even afford pads."
Song JinXing thought about the shocking amount of blood flow he saw every time he went to the bathroom, and frowned.
After ending the call, he went online to do some research.
Half an hour later, Executive Assistant Fuli received a message from the boss's private number, telling him to contact impoverished mountainous areas nationwide and arrange a sanitary pad donation targeting girls.
Sanitary pads?! Donation?!
Fuli stared wide-eyed at the message, reading it over three times before believing he hadn't misread it.
The Song Group made charitable donations every year, but had never specifically donated sanitary pads for girls before! He didn't know you could even donate sanitary pads!
The executive assistant was confused, but decided not to think too hard about it. "Okay Boss, is this a charitable donation under the company's name?"
Song JinXing: This is under my personal name, no need to disclose it publicly. You personally oversee this matter, and ensure the donations actually reach the recipients.
Fuli felt a sense of important duty: Understood! Don't worry Boss, leave it to me!
A few days later, the discomfort finally subsided, and Song JinXing secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Zhong Ruanxing had shared with him a special app for tracking periods, and Song JinXing solemnly recorded the timing of this cycle, setting an alarm on his phone to remind himself next month.
The outdoor shooting for this period was also completed, and Director Zeng Mingsong grandly announced the production would move indoors to begin shooting interior scenes.
The first scene was of Guan Yuanzhou, playing the role of He Xuelin, being interrogated by Shi Yufeng after his identity was exposed.
Guan Yuanzhou, a refreshing handsome youth, looked extremely miserable after getting his injury makeup done.
With a lively personality, tall stature, handsome features, and dance skills, he had already captured the hearts of many staff members over this period.
Now dressed in a tattered, bloodstained shirt, without a patch of good skin left on his body, he looked utterly pitiful hanging from those chains, breaking the hearts of all his fans in the crew.
Before filming started, Guan Yuanzhou was chatting and laughing with everyone with his hands chained up. But when Song JinXing emerged in full costume and makeup, the smile froze on his face.
The custom-made intelligence service uniform seemed tailored specifically for him, making details like a slim waist and long legs irrelevant. The main thing was the overwhelming aura of dominance, as if they were truly facing a ruthless female spy who would whip them for the slightest misspoken word.
Already cold and glamorous naturally, the makeup enhanced the sharpness in her features, and the sense of oppression exuding from her eyes and brows instantly quieted the entire room.
Director Zeng was overjoyed, and quickly seized the moment. "Actors in your places, ready to start shooting!"
Song JinXing gave a twirl of the military knife in her hand, then casually glanced in Guan Yuanzhou's direction.
Guan Yuanzhou shivered, giving her a dry smile. "Sis Ruanxing...go easy on me."
Zeng Mingsong: "Three, two, one, action!"
Shi Yufeng strode in, the long military boots thudding heavily on the wooden floor - dong, dong, dong. Each sound lowered the air pressure in the room bit by bit.
The air was thick with the smell of blood. Her face was expressionless, even her voice cold and devoid of emotion. "Has he confessed?"
The subordinate standing ramrod straight beside her, arms glued to his pants seams, spoke hoarsely: "No, tough as nails."
Shi Yufeng tilted her head to glance at the young man hanging from the rack, not a patch of good skin left on his body. Still expressionless, she approached him, rolling up her sleeves to reveal a swath of snowy arm.
A flash of cold light, and a folded military knife appeared in her hand out of nowhere. Standing before the youth, she looked him up and down twice, then without warning, spun the knife tip toward the bulging vein in his arm, stabbing down.
She didn't so much as blink the whole time.
The youth let out an agonized scream.
Shi Yufeng's face remained expressionless as she gripped the knife handle, slicing all the way down along the vein as if butchering meat, slitting open the artery in his arm.
Blood gushed out. Some drops accidentally splattered onto her face. On that snowy skin, the specks of blood were like bursting red teardrops. One hand holding the knife, she grabbed the youth's chin with the other, forcing him to look her in the eye.
"Will you talk or not?"
Guan Yuanzhou met a pair of pitch black eyes devoid of emotion, like the calm before a raging blizzard, swirling with terrifying pressure.
The following scene would have him spit blood onto Shi Yufeng's face.
The room held its breath, waiting for the imminent scene.
Then they heard Guan Yuanzhou's despairing wail: "I'll talk, I'll talk! I'll tell everything!"
Director Zeng: "???"
He leaped up from the monitor, cursing loudly: "Guan Yuanzhou, your past life was definitely as a traitor!"
