Chapter 8
C8 – He Broke the Record
At 8 AM the following day, five young women escorted Wang Shan to the back mountain.
Regrettably, only the newest generation of cultivators were permitted to enter. The stunning quintet could do nothing but stand vigil at the entrance, awaiting his return.
“Young Master, we’ll be here waiting for your return,” Jiaxia declared. This sparked envy among the passing cultivators. Who wouldn’t desire five gorgeous women as their personal attendants?
Sadly, they lacked the Wang family’s substantial wealth.
Nor did they have a father like Wang Tianxia, the Two-star Expert.
Thus, they could only cast envious glances at Wang Shan and ruefully acknowledge their lesser lot.
Upon entering the back mountain, Wang Shan promptly encountered a towering path that seemed to pierce the sky.
“This mountain is impossibly high. If I were to ascend on foot, I’d either perish from fatigue or die of thirst.”
Wang Shan shook his head in disbelief. As an ordinary person, perhaps such a climb would be expected. But as a cultivator, was he really expected to scale the mountain one laborious step at a time?
“I can’t be bothered with that. There’s no way I’m climbing up step by painstaking step.” With a mere thought, Wang Shan summoned the power of the Heaven Rank Water Condensing Arts.
“Turn ice into an arrow!”
In just a moment, Wang Shan crafted a soaring arrow.
He stood atop the arrow and directed it skyward.
While numerous cultivators toiled and trudged up the mountain, Wang Shan effortlessly rode his arrow to the summit.
At the peak, before the Nine-level Tower, an elder with a gourd of wine in hand swayed slightly as he drank.
He glanced at Wang Shan with a tipsy nod of approval, “This generation’s newcomer is truly formidable, mastering the Heaven Rank Cultivation Method even before receiving his ID card. You’re the scion of the Wang family with the Eternal Flood Dragon Bloodline, aren’t you?”
Wang Shan nodded in affirmation.
“To reach the summit so swiftly is unprecedented in a millennium; congratulations on setting a new record,” the elder lauded Wang Shan’s achievement.
Had he really broken the record that easily?
Wang Shan was at a loss for words. Had all the cultivators of the past thousand years really ascended this mountain by foot?
“May I enter the tower now?”
Wang Shan inquired.
The elder shook his head, “Though you’re the first to arrive, the Nine-level Tower has its protocols. The doors will only open once all the new cultivators have gathered.”
“Don’t be disappointed. You were the first to reach the summit and set a new record, so naturally, you’ll be rewarded.”
The elder produced a blue gourd from within his robes.
“This is the purest Myriad Year Poison Wine, and now, I’m giving it to you.” Having said this, the elder tossed the blue gourd to Wang Shan.
Wang Shan caught the gourd and inquired, “What’s the effect of the Myriad Year Poison Wine?”
It was clear that such a reward was no ordinary item.
“An average person would surely perish if they drank the Myriad Year Poison Wine. But for a cultivator, it’s harmless. Once you drink it, your cultivation will see a significant boost. You’ll save at least five years of training compared to others.” The elder explained, taking a swig of his own drink with a carefree air.
Wang Shan didn’t rush to drink the Myriad Year Poison Wine because as soon as he touched the blue gourd, the system responded.
“You could sell the Myriad Year Poison Wine for 200,000 cash.”
“The Myriad Year Poison Wine can be exchanged for a tonic that grants ten years of cultivation and a +10 boost to all attributes.”
Wang Shan was elated.
“Would you like to exchange it for the tonic?”
“Exchange.”
The blue gourd in Wang Shan’s grasp swiftly transformed into a purple one, heavy with wine that exuded a rich aroma.
Without a second thought, Wang Shan downed the tonic in one go. He could immediately sense a tremendous surge in his vitality. “This is truly fine wine!”
