Chapter 12
C12 – The Glory of the Wang Family
Wang Shan was indifferent to the Wandering Soul’s expression; his sole focus was to reach the summit of the tower!
He stood on the ninth floor of the Nine-level Tower.
This was the fabled prison of the Divine Beast!
Regardless of the nature of the Divine Beast, Wang Shan was determined to claim it.
“Everyone warned me about the perilous Nine-level Tower, saying I’d die if I even reached the second floor. But here I am at the entrance to the ninth floor, not only unharmed but without a bead of sweat on my forehead,” he mused.
Wang Shan looked up at the entrance to the ninth floor, his excitement palpable.
He took a bold step forward, heading for the ninth floor!
He encountered a formidable resistance.
But this resistance was fleeting, lasting a mere three minutes.
Soon after, Wang Shan stepped onto the ninth floor with ease.
Thus, the enigmatic veil shrouding the ninth floor was lifted!
In the expansive space lay an ancient square wooden table, seemingly millennia old.
Ten teacups rested on the table, each bearing an inscription underneath.
Wang Hei visited here at the age of 15!
Approaching the table, Wang Shan’s gaze fell upon the inscribed words, and he trembled slightly.
Memories flooded his mind, and he quickly realized that Wang Hei was his ancestor.
“My father once told me that the Wang family was a distinguished lineage, producing a multitude of exceptional talents. Wang Hei was one such Prodigy. Thousands of years ago, he was the first to awaken the Fire Phoenix talent and ascend to the top of the Nine-level Tower.”
These thoughts gave rise to numerous questions in Wang Shan’s heart.
If Wang Hei was the first to reach the tower’s pinnacle, why was there no record of it within the Nine-level Tower?
It was as though someone had deliberately expunged this piece of history.
Why had the illustrious deeds of the Wang family been erased?
Wang Shan found himself without answers.
Staring at the inscriptions on the square wooden table, he could almost feel the fervent warmth of the words left by his ancestors.
The text, obscured by layers of dust, bore witness to the Wang family’s most glorious and triumphant era.
Wang Shan extended his index finger, activating the Heaven Rank Water Condensing Arts within him. In a flash, he formed a sharp ice spike.
Beneath the inscriptions of his ancestors, Wang Shan etched his own words.
“Wang Shan visited this place at the age of fifteen.”
“The Wang family may no longer be the renowned household it once was, but I will restore our family’s luster!”
No sooner had he spoken than a teacup on the square wooden table toppled over. A plump white cat was perched atop the inscriptions.
“So, you’re a descendant of the Wang family. Five thousand years have passed, and finally, someone from the Wang family has ascended to the summit of the Nine-level Tower.”
Astonishingly, the voice emanated from the mouth of the fat cat!
If Wang Shan wasn’t mistaken, this white cat was the Divine Beast confined to the ninth level.
“You claim you can restore the glory of the Wang family; let’s see the proof of your strength!”
The white cat’s blue eyes shifted to a deep, blood-red hue. In the next moment, Wang Shan was propelled from the floor to the ceiling!
“Quite clever of you. Using the Water Condensing Arts to fuse your feet with the ceiling, you’ve kept yourself from falling. But did you consider that by doing so, you’ve immobilized yourself?”
With a blink of its eyes, the white cat sent fragments of the floating teacup hurtling towards Wang Shan. The lethal shards appeared poised to slash across Wang Shan’s throat!
“Farewell, scion of the Wang family!” But as the white cat believed its victory was at hand, it caught sight of Wang Shan’s grin.
