Chapter 267 267 – That Night
Ritor was laughing with his son in his hands. Occasionally the minotaur tickled the little demon.
Lana, sitting on the sofa knitting a baby hat, smiled. Such a sight would be expected for a human to do, but it was surreal for a ferocious minotaur like Ritor to do it.
"Hey, look, babe." The general pointed out Ethan Jr. dangling from his arm. "He already has incredible strength."
Lana stopped what she was doing, then put her chin on her palm and widened her smile. "He will be a great warrior like you."
Ritor was silent, looking at his son climbing his fur. "Should he become a warrior like me?"
The general's wife frowned, not expecting such an answer to come out of her husband's mouth. "You don't want him to become a warrior? Isn't that great? He can carry on your legacy."
"I don't know. Going to war is hard. The risk of losing one's life is very high. I certainly don't want to lose him. You are, too, right?"
Lana took a deep breath. "Yeah, that's how I feel every time you go on a mission. I always wonder if you'll be back? What about the next mission?"
The baby now perched on the minotaur general's thigh, and Ritor gently stroked his son's back. "Maybe I should stop being a warrior."
Those words were even more of a shock than anything else to Lana. "But you like to fight, right? Your life is filled with fighting and fighting wars."
Ritor put on a smile, then looked at his wife again. "You're right. I can't possibly live without fighting."
Instead of responding, Lana was stunned to see her son.
"Huh?" Ritor raised an eyebrow and looked at Ethan Jr too.
There was a bright halo above the little creature's head. Lana hurriedly ran and took her son.

Velvet took a bite of the 'burger' she had just made, then tilted her head. "This still doesn't match what I've eaten. There's still something missing."
"Maybe the ingredients they use only come from the area where they live." Skeleton A, who had been accompanying the former prophet all along, guessed. "The nutrients in their soil are different, and so is the climate. There are many other factors."
Velvet took a deep breath. She's been trying to replicate the 'burger' for months, but she still hasn't gotten the taste right.
Lord Vorn was very busy and could not entertain himself as he used to. So, Velvet wants to give another surprise to the demon lord.
"Ah, looks like I have to start all over again." The dragon lady put the burger onto the plate. "You don't have to follow me anymore, A. You've been with me for months. You must be bored, right?"
"No, not at all. For me, more cooking is something good." Skeleton A chuckled. "And it's been a great experiment, my lady. It's been a great experience for me too. I really enjoyed it all. I hope you keep me on this."
Velvet smiled at the skeleton. "Too bad you can't taste this. Even though it's far from what I wanted, it's already delicious."
"To be honest, I haven't thought about that anymore."
The dragon lady rubbed her chin, thinking for a moment. "Perhaps a scientist here can make a tongue and mouth for you?"
The skeleton laughed. "For what? If they could, they wouldn't waste time, effort, and money making mouths for me and B."
"I am Lord Vorn's wife." Velvet smiled again. "If I persuade him, maybe he wants to mobilize the available resources for it. So far, I've never asked him for anything, after all."
"Ah…." A shrugged. "I appreciate your kindness, but I don't think Lord Vorn would do that. More things are more important."
"But…." Velvet held her breath and turned her head in a direction.
She felt a surge of energy from a point, and it was so familiar to her.
It is holy energy. Maybe only she, as a prophet, can feel that.
"What's wrong, my lady?" Skeleton A asked.
"I have to get out of here soon." Velvet hurriedly took off the apron she was wearing, then ran out of the kitchen.

Lana huddled in one corner of her house, kept shedding tears. Meanwhile, Ethan Jr., who was in her arms, was crying aloud.
The halo was still above the baby's head.
Ritor walked towards his wife and kid, who was getting closer to the corner. The minotaur general's hand moved towards them.
And he gently touched his wife's shoulder. "You made Ethan cry."
Lana's eyes widened, and Ritor took his son from his wife's arms.
"It's okay, champ." He gently rocked his only child. "There's nothing to be afraid of."
Lana wiped the tears from her face. "You know what this means, right?"
"Yes, maybe our child is the new prophet."
Hearing those words, Lana felt a chill run down her spine. So far, she doesn't want to admit it. "What should we do now? According to the story, Ethan will become lord Vorn's nemesis."
Ritor was silent, still looking at his sleeping son. "Get things ready. We have to get out of here soon."
"Where are we going? And you want to abandon all this?" Lana clenched her fists. "If only I didn't drink the demon potion…. If only I didn't become your wife….. This wouldn't have happened."
"Hey, don't blame yourself." The minotaur general rubbed his wife's face. "We'll work this out together, okay?"
Lana took a deep breath, then nodded. And right after that, a knock sounded on the front door.
"Let me." Ritor hands Ethan over to Lana. "You hide and prepare everything."
Lana nodded again, and Ritor immediately walked into the front room of her house.
"Please, open this door, Ritor." The knocks echoed again. "It's me, Velvet. I came alone and just wanted to chat."
The minotaur general peeked through a curtain and saw no one outside beside the former prophet.
The minotaur general opened the door, but not completely. "What do you need, Velvet?"
"It's okay." The dragon lady gulped. "I just really wanted to talk to you and your wife."
