Chapter 34
Chapter 34: Let’s Start For Real
The green feathered crow was huge enough that it could probably be seen from hundreds of meters away if there were no trees blocking Blake’s view. And with a huge body, also comes a huge target that would be easier to hit by a projectile.
And with the giant crow currently just standing still on top of one of the trees, it was a perfect chance for Blake to slip in a surprise attack that could be very beneficial for him if he were to use the chance properly.
But the question was, what spell should Blake use in this situation? So far, Blake hadn’t created an original spell that was designed to do one huge damage to one specific target and instead focused on the various ways he could use his marking spells together with the darkness tendrils.
So far, one, a few, tens, or hundreds of darkness tendrils would be enough to solve almost all of his problems, depending on how Blake used his spells. But now that he was given the chance to cast one spell, Blake was quite troubled as his spells would really show their power with a series of combination spells, or at least the most basic spell combination which was the marking spell and the myriad darkness tendril spell.
However, Blake already knew from the past week that he fought demonic bird-type creatures that were way smaller than the crow, that such a basic spell combination such as the marking spell and the myriad darkness tendril spells wouldn’t be able to injure the bird type demons because their speed and agility were off the charts. Even landing the marking spell itself was already difficult if he was targeting the birds.
And now that the strongest of the birds appeared, Blake was in a dilemma on whether the bird would also have the same or even greater ability than the smaller and weaker birds that Blake and Robus fought a couple of days ago.
‘That should be the case and I shouldn’t expect otherwise...’ Blake convinced himself as he saw the crow’s huge, yet sharp-looking wings on its side.
.....
‘Alright then, let’s go with that first.’ Blake then started hopping around the trees again as he positioned himself in the best position to hit the Crow from its blind spot, which was directly from its back.
Initially, Blake had actually thought of using the second realm’s darkness binding spell as the first spell that he would be throwing at the humongous crow, but after giving it a little bit of thought he quickly dismissed the idea.
Knowing that the reason why he fell to his knees when he used the second realm darkness spell a week ago was due to his nether being drained so much, Blake quickly put most of his stats into the spirit stat every time he leveled up.
He still added some stats to his physique since Vera had explained to him that if his body was too weak then he wouldn’t be able to survive anything and if he was too weak, then he could have died even before casting his spell, which was something that he certainly didn’t want to happen. However, he still focused his stats on his spirit.
He had tried casting the second realm darkness binding spell again, and although he didn’t fall to his knees after several level-ups, Blake was still too weak to properly use it since he would be barely standing after casting the spell.
At first, he thought that if he could hit the huge bird with the second realm darkness binding spell that had stronger darkness tendrils to incapacitate the huge bird, then his victory would be assured.
However, he remembered what Vera said about his second realm spell. She said that even though Blake could cast it and the power of the spell was definitely several times stronger than the first realm spells, it wasn’t actually as strong as the original spell if it were cast in the second realm.
Blake didn’t know how much strength the huge crow would have, but remembering how much strength his gorilla friend was capable of exerting with his fist, Blake didn’t want to risk the huge crow breaking out from his binding spell while he was barely standing due to the spell draining 80% of his strength.
Because if it were to really happen, then he would be going inside the bird’s mouth, probably chewed until he became soft enough for the bird’s hatchlings to eat.
And that’s the reason why he chose his best spell, the spell that would have never betrayed him as the first spell that he would throw at the huge bird, it was the marking spell.
Blake completed the runes for the marking spell in half a second, and in the other half, he already launched it towards the huge crow right from the crow’s back to make sure that the crow wouldn’t be able to see it coming.
With the nether condensed in the marking spell, it flew straight towards the crow with great speed before finally hitting the crow on its back, in the middle of its wings.
Feeling something hitting its body, the crow was soon alerted, but due to the lack of impact the marking spell brings, it was only enough to make the crow turn its body 180 degrees without flying away. It tried to find whoever had poked him earlier, but with its eyes that weren’t necessarily the sharpest, it wasn’t able to find Blake that was hiding between the thick and lush branches of the trees.
The crow was skeptical as it had never received such a weak attack before and wondered whether it was just its imagination that it had felt something poking its back.
But of course, if the crow was able to see or even feel the tiny amount of darkness elements attaching themselves to its body, then it wouldn’t have thought like that.
“I can already guess how it would turn out, but just in case...” Blake moved his right hand and drew a tiny bit more complicated runes compared to the marking spell.
He had drawn those exact same runes about tens of times now and it wasn’t any different right now, he completed the runes slightly faster than a second, and just patiently waited for the spell to manifest itself.
And in the next second, the spell started to show itself.
Around the huge crow, the nether in the environment started to thicken as the nether from near the crow gathered around itself, becoming several times denser in just a few seconds.
The crow, who had defeated so many opponents, and eaten many souls to get to its current strength, of course, noticed the unusual rise of the density of nether around it.
It was already wary from the poke that it felt a few moments ago, but now that the nether also had suddenly spiked up, the crow didn’t want to take any more chances and decided to fly away from the tree where it was currently standing on.
And just when the crow’s feet lifted up from the tree, a darkness tendril suddenly appeared out of thin air from the dense concentration of nether and it flew straight towards the middle section of the crow’s body, right in the middle of its two wings.
The crow felt the initial surge of nether when the first darkness tendril appeared, and it quickly flapped its wings as hard as it could to dodge as fast as possible.
Its huge wings were filled with nether and a sense of power filled its wings as a single flap easily pushed the crow forward 10 meters away from its last location, making the darkness tendril to barely miss its target.
But it didn’t stop right there as the crow felt the nether around it was still dense as if it was following its every movement, so it also continued flapping its wings as hard as it could, dodging countless darkness tendrils that started appearing in the air all around its body.
And it continued for the next 10 seconds before the crow finally felt the nether around it had returned back to the normal level and decided to slow down its flying speed as it searched for the one who was responsible for attacking it.
“Yeah... This wouldn’t be easy...” Blake muttered, catching his slightly batting breath after putting in more nether to the darkness tendril spell earlier in hopes of putting holes in the bird’s body.
He was quite disappointed that it didn’t work, but with his marking spell still attached to the crow’s body, Blake still had plenty of ways that he could think of to try and defeat the crow.
Blake then cracked his knuckles and stretched his body before kicking the tree branch below as he moved to another tree branch with a single jump of his improved physique. “Let’s start for real now...”
