Chapter 26: Heaven's Eyes Vs Jas
Chapter 26: Heaven's Eyes Vs Jas
“Perfect. Then come!”, said Jas calmly as he readied himself.
When Liza heard what Khal needed to do to enroll, stayed still on the side and watched in silence.
She wasn’t feeling nervous at all, because she knew just what Khal was able to do. She knew he could do it and it was not a question. Especially with his Talent, passing through the gate without getting touched was kid’s play.
Or at least that was what she has thought, until the moment she glanced at Jas. Instantly as she did, her expression turned sour and sink into deep thoughts.
“Will Khal be able to pass this test?”, murmured Liza quietly, now suddenly not so sure if Khal could pass by the old man without getting touched.
While Liza was watching the two from the other side in silence, until then Khal was calmly examining Jas before him.
He knew that the old man was no one weak at all, especially if he was entrusted with the task to let only those into Moon Academy who were appropriate for the Academy’s requirements.
“Just what could his ability truly be. I can think about him having a Talent associated with speed or ability that lets him fight in close range, giving him the chance to touch me quite easily. Or there is even the possibility he has something that lets him see my movements clearly, just like my Heaven’s Eyes. Or at least, there is no way he is so confident if he has not what it takes to touch me.”
While Khal was thinking about what the old man’s power could possibly be, Jas before him smiled slightly and asked, “Trying to figure out my Talent to put you in an advantage? If so, then I need to let you down, because my Talent is not something which can be found out that easily.”
The moment Khal heard this, suddenly closed his eyes and thought, “He is right. There is no point thinking about the unknown. Also, who cares what his ability could possibly be? I have everything that I need to pass that old geezer.”
As he thought about this, he smiled and said, “You are right. It is useless to think about what I don’t know. Instead, I will do what I know.”
With those words, Khal opened his eyes, revealing a pair of new eyes to Jas instantly.
His eyes became sky blue, while his black pupils turned crimson red and formed a vertical slit in the middle.
Right now, those eyes felt like they were able to pierce through everything, revealing anything that was kept secret or hidden.
“!”
When Jas saw this sudden change, his expression turned instantly alarmed and serious.
Because Khal had no Talent originally and only had one because of the Power Core in his bracelet, anyone who looked at him when he wasn’t using his power, felt like he was Talentless.
However when he activated his power, the presence that every Talent holder had would break out from his body, giving him a cultivation presence also.
And this is why Jas was so surprised right now. Just a few seconds ago, Jas could feel that Khal had no presence at all, telling him that he was just a Talentless individual.
However, suddenly for some unknown reason, Khal’s body exploded with Cultivation presence, showing him that Khal truly has Talent. And to top it off, Jas felt that Khal’s Talent was a very powerful one.
Squinting his eyes to get a better look, Jas thought for a while and said to himself, “A Talent enhancing his sight? No… This presence is definitely not from a Sight Improving Talent, so what could it truly be?”
While Jas murmured to himself in confusion, trying to figure out the true nature of Khal’s Heaven’s Eyes, Khal started to run toward Jas with a speed that was neither fast nor slow.
“Too slow. With that he won’t be able to pass him.”, thought Liza with a frown, not knowing what could Khal possibly aim for with such a slow speed.
Jas thought the same thing too. With such a low speed forget about him, he was quite sure that even a newborn baby would be able to touch him.
“It’s a pity though. Like this, it will be quite easy to touch him.”
However, just as Jas thought about this, an unexpected thing occurred.
Instead of running toward the gate where Jas was, Khal suddenly changed directions and started to run toward the side.
Jas seeing this frowned slightly, not understanding what Khal could possibly try, but suddenly his expression turned to that of a shock.
The direction where Khal was currently running was exactly where a tree was next to the Moon Academy’s walls.
“Is he trying to…”, said Jas with shock, knowing that Khal was trying to get into Moon Academy by using the tree as a ladder.
“Interesting.”, said Jas with a slight smile, knowing that Khal instantly understood that he had no way to pass him with his average speed, so he decided to think for another way.
Because Jas told Khal he will be able to enroll if he passes him and enters Moon Academy territory, it seems Khal instantly understood one thing.
He didn’t need to pass Jas or the gate directly. He could just simply look for another entrance somewhere else and set foot inside Moon Academy.
And because there were no such rules that he needed to enter Moon Academy through that specific gate, if he succeeds, he will be able to enroll no matter what.
“But still, this won’t be enough to win.”, said Jas and not wasting any more time, he moved, and like a bullet he arrived behind Khal, ready to touch his back.
“Nice try, but I still won.”, said Jas with a slight smile, however, the next second the smile suddenly froze onto his face.
Just as he was about to touch Khal who was running forward, unexpectedly he jumped to the side, barely avoiding Jas’s palm.
“!”
Jas seeing this was surprised, but his level of shock became even greater when he watched Khal spun around in a flash and set off toward the gate with a greater speed than before.
Realizing he fell right into a kid’s trap, Jas turned serious and said, “Don’t even think about it!”
*Swish!*
With a speed that looked like a flash, Jas appeared next to Khal again, but this time he didn’t hesitate to touch him.
His palm fell down from above toward Khal’s shoulder like a lightning, however, even like this he missed.
“How?”
Watching as Khal barely avoided his palm once again, Jas looked shocked, hardly believing something like this could truly happen.
He knew that Khal had a Talent that helped him see things with a clearer view, but that didn’t explain how he was able to avoid his palm.
However, what Jas didn’t know that Khal’s Heaven’s Eyes was no ordinary Sight Enhancing Talent.
While Khal’s Heaven’s Eyes was able to show everything in a 5 meters radius around him as clear as day until then it boosted his reaction and thinking speed at the same time.
That was why he was able to avoid those assassins’ assaults back then in the past. If not, with his average reaction speed he would have been killed a hundred times already.
And this is what was currently happening. While using his Talent to see Jas’s movement around him, he could react just in time to avoid the attempts.
“This is way too easy.”, thought Khal calmly as he got used to the cycling process of running, avoiding, changing direction, and continuing to run.
But for some reason, he felt that Jas was not giving his all, but he didn’t really care about that right at the moment.
Instead, he did everything he could to arrive before the gate as fast as possibly he could.
“Just a bit more!”, thought Khal calmly as he avoided another attempt from Jas.
And just as he thought that the two has finally reached the gate, making Jas realize that he needed to do something to stop Khal if he didn’t want to lose.
“I won’t let you!”, said Jas with a serious expression and instantly vanished from sight.
Khal seeing this looked surprised because even with his Heaven’s Eyes he was still unable to see where Jas had gone which was shocking.
However, Khal knew if something like this happened, there should be only two explanations. One was that Jas was currently outside of his Heaven’s Eyes range, while the second one was that his speed was way too fast for his eyes to keep up with him.
Naturally, there were several other explanations, but Khal was unable to think about them currently.
Thinking about these, Khal frowned and thought, “Well, until he does not touches me, I’m fine.”
With that said, he quickened his pace and soon he arrived before the gate.
Liza seeing that Khal was about to cross the gate, became happy, but unexpectedly, it only lasted for a single second.
It was because the next second, suddenly Jas’s figure emerged from out of thin air, right before Khal, with his palm only inches away from his face.
Seeing this, Liza turned instantly alarmed and without hesitation shouted loudly, “Watch out!”
