Chapter 80: How Could It Be Him??
In the arena, Celestial Stars had vanished.
After the terrifying impact, a massive crater had formed. Under the influence of the extreme heat, the crater was filled with a blue liquid. But unlike the water curtain created by Faye, this was a river of high-temperature molten lava!
Just looking at it was enough to send chills down one's spine.
The entire arena had turned into ruins. Even though the constructs within the consciousness space had self-repair functions, the destruction was so thorough that it couldn't keep up with the repairs.
What everyone saw was an extremely bizarre scene. The area surrounded by countless spectator stands no longer looked like an arena but had purely become a giant pit!
Sterl stood there with his hands behind his back, his face calm, exuding the demeanor of a seasoned master.
Gradually, the NPCs and players managed to shake off their confusion. They looked at the scene in the arena, each displaying an expression of extreme shock!
"This... the Water Blue Saintess was hiding her true power too deeply!"
"I never thought Faye could manipulate not just water but fire and meteors too!"
"So powerful! Incredibly strong! No wonder she used such a massive water flow earlier. I thought it was a waste, but it was just to control the opponent??"
"Faye's real ultimate move is this meteor!"
"This is insane! To think a mere level 95 could produce an output that should belong to someone at level 130 or higher! As expected of the top genius of the Water Blue clan!"
Everyone was shouting excitedly, all while looking at the figure in the arena—
The Water Blue Saintess, who appeared extremely disheveled and was half-kneeling on the ground, seemingly on the brink of death, was being revered by all.
That meteor move was just too strong! It defied normal expectations! It was an instant kill for everything! Some NPCs, who clearly had the power of a third-class or higher, were trembling in fear, thinking that if they had been in that position, they probably wouldn't have been able to block that move either! They would have been taken out along with the players!
What? You say "David"? Who has time to care about that weakling now?
Even those who had previously disliked this lucky kid couldn't be bothered to pay attention to him at this moment...
The point was, the players knew they were witnessing history!
The Water Blue Saintess Faye was bound to rise, easily reaching legendary status, and possibly even the demigod realm!
Of course, not everyone was looking at Faye in awe—there was one exception: the Fourth Prince of the Divine Mountain Empire.
He had an extremely shocked expression on his face as he looked at Sterl, unable to form a coherent sentence.
"My heavens..."
"Could it be... that I truly am the chosen one??"
The Fourth Prince was bewildered. He knew the truth! The meteor skill belonged to David!
Compared to his elder brother, he was far more miserable, with far fewer subordinates. Yet, he had somehow managed to draw two of the most outrageous cards.
One was the Water Blue Saintess Faye, unbeatable below the third class! Dominating all!
And the other, David... Mr. David was even more absurd!
Previously, the Fourth Prince of the Divine Mountain Empire thought he had seen David's limits, especially since "David" had often been visibly exhausted while chasing down alien players.
That's why the Fourth Prince dared to make the judgment that the opponent's strength couldn't possibly be at the third class! He must be a relatively strong second-class player! While everyone was mocking "David," the Fourth Prince had even planned to seize the moment when the mocking reached its peak and step forward to defend him, showing his skill in managing subordinates.
The plan was well thought out... but now the sudden change left the Fourth Prince completely dumbfounded!
David's displayed combat power was too strong that the Fourth Prince doubted whether the chips he'd offered earlier would be enough to win him over.
He was even filled with regret... He should have stepped up to defend this master when he was being mocked by the crowd. Now that David had single-handedly wiped out all the enemies, any attempt to make amends seemed pointless.
All he felt was regret, pure regret!
No one cared about the prince's thoughts. All the players and NPCs were looking at Faye with awe, witnessing the emergence of a future legend. The surroundings were eerily silent, everyone waiting for the Water Blue Saintess to make her next move.
Meanwhile, Sterl felt a bit speechless. He had expected to hear the astonished shouts from the players below, as was customary in such moments.
But... how could he be ignored again? The only consolation was that, at least this time, no one was cursing him.
Sterl realized that his ultimate move had been mistaken as someone else's, but he didn't rush to clarify, choosing instead to wait patiently.
It wasn't until the Water Blue Saintess struggled to her feet and spoke her first words: "Who are you? How can a second-class player be as strong as you?"
"That meteor earlier... was incredibly strong."
"If it weren't for my life-saving skill, I might have been instantly killed like everyone else!"
"Faye is lying," Sterl's eyes narrowed. Through Star Insight, he could clearly see that Faye's skill list did not include any life-saving abilities.
He then realized—he had never disclosed his current level, not even the disguised version.
And Faye's skill list also lacked any detection abilities.
This Water Blue Saintess was no simple character...
However, the calm dialogue on the field left countless spectators stunned, making them doubt their hearing.
"From what Faye said, that move was actually executed by the Earthling kid?"
The players began to change their tune. Just moments ago, they had been calling Sterl a waste of space, but now they were referring to him as a "lucky kid" in a more neutral tone.
"Is this some kind of joke?"
"What does Miss Faye mean? There's no way she's speaking up for an Earthling player, right?"
"Did I hear that wrong?"
...
Both players and NPCs were in a state of utter disbelief. Who could believe that a race known for its poor solo combat abilities could produce such a powerful individual?
The princes of the Divine Mountain Empire were also staring in shock at the figure below, who stood there with his hands behind his back, exuding the demeanor of a master—Sterl had been striking a pose for a long time, and finally, someone was recognizing its value.
The princes couldn't help but whisper among themselves.
"Has anyone recruited David yet? We must get him on our side!"
"If we have such a master in our future plans, the Empire's chances of acquiring an A-grade arcane skill would be incredibly high!"
"Faye said David is a second-class player? Then perhaps he even has a shot at an S-grade arcane skill..."
"We have to win him over, no matter if he was the one who released that meteor or not. We can't afford to let him slip through our fingers. His value is immense!"
The princes didn't care about how David had been mocked earlier. They valued his potential and strength.
Meanwhile, the players on the field still wore pained expressions, struggling to accept the reality...
No matter how they thought about it, it didn't make sense!
Faye, from the Water Blue clan, wouldn't lie so blatantly for an Earthling player by crediting that terrifying move to him. Could David really pull off something like that? He didn't look like he had that ability!!
Unless... Faye was telling the truth.
If that move really was executed by David, it would make sense.
This realization made everyone hold their breath for a moment.
The bizarre water curtain created by Faye had been effortlessly destroyed by the meteor, which also wiped out all the players around it. And it was all done effortlessly by that Earthling player!
People clearly saw that he merely snapped his fingers to cause such a massive impact!!
Instantly, the atmosphere felt suffocating!
The players who had been mocking David were now in a state of disbelief. Rationally, they couldn't accept that an Earthling player could be so strong. At the same time, they felt extremely embarrassed because they had just assumed that the player who released the meteor—
Was a future legend, with the potential to ascend to a demigod! Such a title fitted Faye perfectly, but when attributed to David, it caused a shift in everyone's mindset...
Regardless of what these people thought, the battle was still ongoing.
Sterl stretched his muscles.
"Come on, you should have one more move combined with the skill from your Mastery, right?"
"And don't think I didn't notice what you're hiding."
"You don't have any life-saving skills. Reveal your trump card."
"Do your best to amuse me."
He spoke in a detached tone, like a master seeking a worthy defeat.
In reality, Sterl's thinking was that if this were a life-and-death battle in the wild, he wouldn't be so arrogant. He would ensure to take down his opponent cautiously. But now he felt Faye had only a one percent chance of turning the tables, and since no one truly died in the consciousness space, it was fine to be a bit reckless...
However, Faye's fear grew more intense. "How does he know!"
Her face changed, showing unprecedented panic and unease!
It was as if a monumental secret had been exposed!
Seeing Faye so flustered, Sterl smiled slightly, "How could I not know?"
