Chapter 234: The Lurking Destroyers
Chapter 234: The Lurking Destroyers
Beyond the barrier of holy light that shrouded the entire domain at the edge of the Earth sector, one would see an army of what seemed like an endless number of Flesh Mutators. Some roamed the oceans, slaughtering any sea life that dared to appear at the edge of the barrier, painting the once greenish waters with a blood-red hue.
However, others soared the skies, spiraling around a large cluster of Horde Carriers, each being no inferior to a small mountain. The largest among them was greater than many others.
Looking around them, one would notice a series of vast pits that had endless amounts of waters pouring into their depths. There were even a few metallic shells scattered towards nearby islands that were in ruins.
At this moment, on the summits of the largest Horde Carrier that stood above the others, five mighty looking Flesh Mutators stood together as they fixedly gazed at the barrier in the distance. These were none other than a few of the mightiest beings under the command of Galgorax, the Eight Destroyers.
"Three weeks, we have less than three weeks to complete the mother's mission; I can tell that their barrier is waning." One of the Eight Destroyers said as he stared at the barrier with cold looking eyes from behind his strangely patterned cloak.
Looking at him a bit closer, one would see that his body was slightly different from the norm, as his feet were linked to the Horde Carrier as if he were one with it. He had darker colored skin compared to the others, with tentacles wiggling from his body.
"Xakkok, you better be right this time, it's getting too boring, only those toys of theirs were pretty fun to play with during their last attempt."
Another of the Eight Destroyers said, he had a larger build and seemed no different from a building. His skin seemed similar to metal due to his bright sheen, as his entire presence gave one the impression of having overwhelming power.
"Huhu, I'm also bored myself, Hugrils, I suppose they might try acting once more, look I can see that the warriors on their borders are ruffling about as if panicking."
Candrons said with a smirk, his eyes narrowing as if they could easily peer through the distance at the sight of a variety of militia moving back and forth in a hurry.
"Oh, what kind of toys are they setting up this time?" Khenul asked as she looked at Candrons.
Candrons shrugged and replied, "I'm not sure, but..."
As he spoke to here, his eyes flashed as it showed traces of cruelty when he spoke again, "No matter what it is, it will prove to be no different from a futile act."
When they heard Candron's words, the eyes of each of the Eight Destroyers flashed in a reddish glow, the last of the destroyers being Ekver, gave Candron's a look before he stared at the barrier in the distance with thoughts unknown.

Time passed quickly and it had been more than two weeks since Evan's party had arrived in the ocean region. After making a temporary base, they immediately started their war against the various bases of Body Shifters.
With a loud boom, an explosion of energy had arisen from a nearby island. When this happened, a cloud of smoke rose from a section of hills. A few humanized Body Shifters then burst out of the cover with looks of anger on their faces.
"Darn, they've hit us too! How the hell did these humans find out about our base?"
"Blast! We can't let them have their way, take them down!"
With a series of angry shouts, the Body Shifters immediately acted, each employing a different kind of genetic ability, some shooting fire bolts, others firing beams from their eyes while some used stranger powers.
These attacks struck towards the core of the explosion, vanishing behind the smoke at a few indistinct figures before creating another set of booms.
Among these Body Shifters was an even more powerful looking figure with a humanoid appearance; he had multiple arms protruding from his back with a sharp and angular shape as if they were knives. He wore a battle suit with strange glowing red spears in two of his arms.
This person was the High Elder of this base camp, the leader in charge of all operations.
'These humans, they've eradicated all of our surrounding bases, how the hell did we let this happen? If they finish ours, are you telling me that they're even thinking of taking on the main base? Che! I've even sent word for reinforcement, but until now, they have yet to send us aid...'
The High Elder said as he stared at the distance, but he was soon forced to take his sights away, as the danger before him was far from ended.
At this moment, the lights faded as the Body Shifters looked towards it with anxious looks on their faces; they were hoping that the previous combination had finished them, but sadly, their wishes were in vain.
A giant translucent shield that glowed in an earthen color soon appeared behind the smoke as it slowly pushed its way forward. It shrunk before converting around a regular-sized shield held by a fat individual and muscular individual after a short while.
As if he saw the looks of panic on the faces of each Body Shifters, the fat youth smirked while speaking, "Haha, you guys sure do underestimate us, I would like to play some more, but I'm sorry, we are on a bit of a schedule."
When Joe said this, his eyes glowed in a menacing light as he held his shield before him, prepared to unleash his next attack; behind him, Rick and Layla had also appeared as they firmly held onto their weapons. Soon after, their energies erupted in full, sending ripples about as they prepared to destroy the remaining group.
"Damn, their all monsters!"
The Body Shifters said as they backed up in fear, the High Elder seeing this frowned as he spoke, "Useless!"
Following his words, a series of red rays soon crashed onto the bodies of the Body Shifters. These rays bore through their torso before forming into the strange-looking red spears that the High Elder held. Moments after, their bodies began to erode into nothingness before finally fading away.
"So cruel..." Layla muttered as she saw the change, but she soon shook her head, knowing that they would destroy them regardless.
Rick was unphased as Joe shook his head, the High Elder, after killing his henchmen, then walked before Layla, Joe, and Rick, his figure towering over them by a meter's size.
"You pesky humans, I don't know what you've fought at those other bases, but let me tell you, I'm not some simple push over that you can easily kill. Prepare yourselves, for I shall let you all know the pain of living only to die!"
After saying those words, the High Elder's eyes glowed in ominous lights as his genetic blood energy erupted in full, giving him an intimidating presence. The four arms on his back even reached out to the void as they conjured four more glowing red spears from the surroundings.
"Hmph! Let's see you say that after we turn you into a corpse!" Joe said in a mocking tone as he readied himself to parry the opponent's assault.
"Insolent fool, die!" The High Elder shouted in rage as one of his arms behind his back tossed one of the spears towards Joe.
The spear broke through the wind at alarming speeds, moving no different from a red beam of light; Joe, on the other hand, merely raised his shield and jumped forwards with an indomitable spirit.
"That's not enough to best me!" Joe yelled as he struck his shield towards the red ray, following after it collided before creating a red explosion. However, rather than pushing Joe backward, the energy scattered to sides of the shield as Joe pressed onwards like an armored tank.
"What? Damn!" The High Elder was alarmed at this, but being experienced, he didn't hesitate to throw a few more spears towards Joe in an attempt to slow him down.
Joe easily broke through the spear rays with the shield before arriving directly before the High Elder. He then smashed the shield towards his towering torso.
"Foolish boy, fighting me in close-quarter will be your death!"
The High Elder cursed as his two front arms bulged, revealing dense muscles. He then stabbed the two spears rapidly towards Joe, leaving behind remnant shades due to the flurry of attacks.
The sound of metal colliding with each other resounded, sparks flew witch each hit that collided with Joe's shield, but oddly enough, rather than pushing Joe back, the blows seemed as if they were hitting a firm and unmovable iron wall.
Joe snickered causally, parrying the attacks as if he wasn't in a hurry to perform the finishing blow; the High Elder grew even more enraged at his he was being mocked, while continually pressing the attack. He thought for a moment before he used his back arms to toss two spears towards Layla and Rick.
"Smart thinking, but it's futile..." Rick uttered as he merely waved his spear and parried the ray of light, sending it towards the side; the light then crashed into the ground form a wide crater before leaving behind the image of a spear plunged into the earth.
Layla didn't try to block the attack; she swayed to the side, easily avoiding it as she raised her staff, conjuring a bright ball of purplish light at the tip of a magical crystal embedded at its core.
The High Elder was alarmed at how easily Rick and Layla avoided his attacks, but what drew his attention was none other than Layla's spell.
'Not good! I can't get hit by that attack!' He thought to himself as he could feel death behind the ball of energy, he wanted to move, but sadly, he was too late.
"Sorry pal, your path ends here," Joe said as he withdrew his shield in a flash and grabbed both of the High Elder's arms. Before the latter could even react, Joe then tossed him behind him towards Layla's direction.
Layla then pointed her staff towards the front as she invoked her skill, "LightWave!"
Instantly, a bright purplish ray bolted forward as the eyes of the High Elder sunk, his last sights were only the brilliant flash of light that swept from the distance before it washed over his being, before sending his spirit to true eternity.
