Chapter 25: Buying a Gift
Chapter 25: Buying a Gift
The next morning, Zhou Chao dragged Guo Yan out of her bed. "Ah, why are you waking me up so early, big brother?" Guo Yan looked at Zhou Chao with a pout.
"Didn't we talk about it yesterday? You're going back to Modu City in a few days, and I planned to take you to buy some gifts for your parents."
"Hmph, get out, big brother. The beautiful princess needs to change clothes."
Upon hearing this, Zhou Chao turned and walked out of his sister's room, sitting on the sofa in the living room and playing with his phone. He waited for over half an hour before Guo Yan finally opened the door and walked out, wearing a school uniform that perfectly showcased her slim figure.
"Let's go, stinky big brother," Guo Yan said, glancing at Zhou Chao on the sofa.
Zhou Chao drove his Lamborghini Poison to the flagship store of Patek Philippe located near the Bund in Wai Tan Yuan. The Patek Philippe flagship store was housed in an old building within Wai Tan Yuan, which was once the 19th-century British Consul General's residence in Modu City, giving it a distinctive appearance.
Zhou Chao and Guo Yan entered the store and found that there were not many people inside. Perhaps because they looked relatively young, no salesperson approached them to offer assistance. So, they began browsing on their own.
"Brother, look at this watch. It's so beautiful," Guo Yan pointed to a Patek Philippe watch with a white strap and a diamond-studded dial in the display case.
Zhou Chao agreed that the watch was indeed beautiful and suitable for Guo Yan. He called out to a salesperson, but several salespeople seemed not to have heard Zhou Chao's call and didn't come over.
Just as Zhou Chao was about to scold loudly, a weak voice sounded beside him, "Sir, are you here to look at watches?" Zhou Chao turned his head and saw a female salesperson who looked about the same age as him. She had her head lowered. He looked at her name tag which indicated that she was an intern. No wonder she didn't dare speak loudly.
"Hello, please take out this watch for me to see," Zhou Chao pointed to the watch that both of them had liked before.
"Sure, please wait a moment." The girl seemed to have entered a professional state and changed from her timid posture earlier. Perhaps it was her first time attending to a customer, so she was a bit hesitant at first.
"Hello, sir. The watch you were looking at is the Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5068R-010 Ladies' Mechanical Watch. It features a rose gold case with a white strap and sparkling diamonds, with a diameter of 35.6mm and a thickness of 8.5mm. It is equipped with the Cal.324SC movement. The combination of the white strap and shimmering diamonds adds a touch of elegance without appearing tacky. It's very suitable for the lady beside you to wear." The intern salesperson confidently delivered a clear and concise introduction.
"Guo Yan, try it on and see how it looks," Zhou Chao said as Guo Yan extended her hand. The intern salesperson skillfully helped Guo Yan put the watch on her right wrist. Guo Yan looked at the watch and couldn't help but shake her hand left and right. "Brother, look, isn't it beautiful?"
"Not bad, it looks great on you." Zhou Chao turned to the intern salesperson and said, "Help me pick two watches suitable for middle-aged people, one for a man and one for a woman."
The intern salesperson's face lit up like a flower upon hearing Zhou Chao's words. She turned and went to help Zhou Chao choose the watches.
At this moment, a mature-looking salesperson among the previous ones seemed to have noticed that Zhou Chao was about to make a purchase. She approached and said, "Sir, I am a senior salesperson at Patek Philippe. Allow me to assist you." She tried to push aside the intern salesperson who was currently helping Zhou Chao.
Zhou Chao, seeing this shameless behavior, glanced at her and said lightly, "No need for your assistance. I'm fine with this intern salesperson."
The senior salesperson was about to say something when Zhou Chao, with a cold gaze, interrupted her. "Please leave." The senior salesperson hesitated for a moment, taken aback by Zhou Chao's icy gaze. She stumbled back a few steps and then turned around and left.
In the next moment, Zhou Chao smiled and asked the intern salesperson, "Have you chosen the watches?"
"For the gentleman, I recommend this stainless steel blue-dial Nautilus. The color of the blue-gray dial is relatively rare. Usually, you would see very bright blue or sophisticated gray. However, the Nautilus with this blue-gray color has a lower saturation, which gives it a high-end appearance. For the lady, I recommend the Patek Philippe 7200 Calatrava series. It is low-key yet profound, perfect for middle-aged women."
Zhou Chao looked at the two watches in front of him and felt they were both excellent choices. He said, "I'll take all three watches. How much is the total?"
"The total for the three watches is 1,356,000 yuan. The men's watch is worth 880,000 yuan. Would you like to see other styles?"
Zhou Chao waved his hand and said, "Just pack them all for me. I'll take all three watches. Where can I make the payment?"
The intern salesperson's smile never left her face. "Please come this way, sir." Soon, Zhou Chao completed the payment, and the intern salesperson neatly packed the three watch boxes. Guo Yan, on the other hand, examined her new watch.
Zhou Chao took the bag with the watches and left without complaining about the initial attitude of the staff members. After all, it would be a waste of his time.
Sitting in the car, Zhou Chao looked at Guo Yan, who was playing with her watch, and said, "Take your time to look at it when we get home. What else do you think we should buy for the family?"
Guo Yan replied without lifting her head, "How about buying some gold jewelry for my mom? But let's skip it for my dad. It's not suitable for him to wear such things at his workplace."
"Alright, let's do as you say. Let's go to a jewelry store then." With that, the car left the parking lot.
They arrived at the Golden Jewelry Store located at No. 18 on the Bund. It was a high-end venue that brought together top luxury goods, gold jewelry, and gourmet food.
Zhou Chao took Guo Yan to a crowded jewelry store and walked in. As soon as they entered, a very enthusiastic salesperson greeted them, "Welcome. Are you interested in gold jewelry or jewelry, sir?"
"Let's take a look at both, starting with the gold jewelry."
"Please follow me." The enthusiastic salesperson led them to the gold jewelry counter and then left them in the hands of the counter staff.
"Hello, sir. It's my pleasure to assist you. What kind of gold jewelry are you interested in?" the counter staff warmly asked.
"I'm planning to give some gifts to the elders in my family. Do you have any recommendations?" Zhou Chao inquired.
"If you're looking to give gifts to the elders, I recommend considering this bracelet. It's very suitable."
In about ten minutes, Zhou Chao made the purchase based on the staff's recommendation. He bought a pair of bracelets and a gold necklace for his aunt and an engraved gold pendant for his uncle.
"Guo Yan, do you want to see if there's any jewelry you'd like to buy?" Zhou Chao asked, looking at his bored sister.
"Brother, I'm not interested. I don't like wearing these things. What if I accidentally lose them? I'd feel terrible."
"Alright, I'll buy you some when you go to college."
As they walked out of the gold jewelry store, they realized it was getting late. Zhou Chao took Guo Yan upstairs. The fourth to seventh floors of No. 18 on the Bund were all gourmet restaurants, with the 5th and 6th floors being home to some of the top 50 restaurants in the world. They chose a Cantonese restaurant that was known as the best Cantonese restaurant in Shanghai.
