Chapter 76: Killing Him and Killing Zombies Make No Difference
Chapter 76
"Gu Wanyin!" Gu Mingyu looked at her, enunciating each syllable through gritted teeth.
"Is there something you need?" Gu Wanyin asked coolly.
"You killed Sister Rou Rou, you killed my older brother. I'm going to kill you!"
With that, Gu Mingyu let out a roar and pulled a knife from his jacket, charging towards Gu Wanyin.
His face was contorted with rage, and though he was a living person, he looked no different from a zombie!
However, just as he was about to reach Gu Wanyin, his feet suddenly stuck to the ground, unable to move.
He glared at Gu Wanyin, struggling with all his might, but to no avail!
"What have you done?!" Gu Mingyu shouted in desperation.
He just couldn't understand how Gu Wanyin, an ordinary person without any special abilities, had managed to make the hotel so miraculous. How was it that no one could harm her?
Gu Wanyin walked up to him and took the knife from his hand.
"Gu Mingyu, from the beginning, I never intended to fight with you. Your Muruo Base is in another city with plenty of resources. We could have coexisted peacefully, but you were too greedy," Gu Wanyin said calmly. "You drove yourselves into a corner. It wasn't me."
Just as Gu Mingyu was about to speak, Gu Wanyin plunged the knife into his abdomen!
He cried out in pain, his eyes turning bloodshot!
"You! How dare you..."
"Why wouldn't I dare?" Gu Wanyin pulled the knife out, seemingly oblivious to Gu Mingyu's agonized expression, and stabbed him again in another spot.
"Ah! You can't kill me!" Gu Mingyu panicked. Even though he had prepared himself for a mutual destruction with Gu Wanyin, when death was truly imminent, he couldn't control the fear spreading through his heart!
This was the deepest, most primal fear of death in the human heart!
"Why can't I?" Gu Wanyin looked at him coldly. "What's this? You're allowed to try to kill me repeatedly, but I'm not allowed to fight back? What kind of logic is that?"
Of course, she had never killed anyone before, not even a chicken.
But recently, she had practiced a few times in the zombie-killing training camp.
Gu Mingyu was inhuman, no different from a zombie!
So she found it quite easy to kill him!
"Don't worry, you won't escape by luck this time," Gu Wanyin sneered. "Don't you miss your Sister Rou Rou and your older brother? I'll send you to reunite with them right away."
With that, she thrust the knife directly into his heart!
Gu Mingyu's eyes suddenly widened, and his tall frame collapsed to the ground.
His body convulsed, blood gushing out uncontrollably. He wanted to struggle, unwilling to die just like that, but he could only watch helplessly as his life ebbed away, until finally, he breathed his last...
Gu Wanyin just watched him coldly, pulling out a tissue from her pocket to wipe her hands.
To be honest, for her first time actually killing someone, it would be impossible to say she felt nothing at all.
But she had always been able to calm herself quickly.
After all, she hadn't been too fazed even when she suddenly transmigrated.
This time, killing a scoundrel, she just needed to adjust her mood a little, and she'd be fine.
This time, Gu Mingyu was truly dead.
He would never bother her again.
Gu Wanyin gave a cold smile, no longer looking at Gu Mingyu's corpse. She got into her car and drove away.
...
It was another scorching hot day. Even though it was already midnight, the temperature was still close to 50 degrees Celsius.
Moreover, a major earthquake had just occurred.
There were no other buildings left near the hotel, so the guests waiting for vacant rooms nearby weren't too affected by the earthquake.
In fact, they witnessed firsthand how the two hotel buildings remained as steady as a mountain during such a violent earthquake, without any change at all!
Even the guests inside the hotel didn't feel the earthquake outside.
They were truly envious and desperate to get into the hotel.
But with no vacancies, they had no choice but to wait outside, silently enduring the high temperature.
Some people had heat-resistant suits, which made it bearable, but those without were frantically fanning themselves, though it seemed to have little effect in such extreme heat.
At that moment, a man and a woman arrived near the hotel.
Their clothes were tattered, and their faces were filthy.
"We're here, we've finally made it!" the woman exclaimed, looking at the hotel with delight. "The Peace Hotel, this is it! Look, it's still brightly lit!"
The man murmured, "I haven't seen so many lights since the apocalypse began..."
"But look at all these people around the hotel..." the woman frowned. "I've heard that rooms are scarce. Are there no vacancies now, and they're all waiting? When will we ever get a room?"
The man said quietly, "We don't have any special abilities, so we can't compete with them. We might end up not only failing to get a room but also getting beaten to death! Human life isn't worth much these days, and no one would care if we died!"
"I know that, but I really want to stay in the hotel," the woman said longingly.
The man thought for a moment and said, "Why don't we go in and ask? It doesn't hurt to ask, and who knows, maybe we'll catch someone just checking out?"
"Hmm, that makes sense. Let's go in and see!"
With that, the two of them walked into the hotel.
The others watching them go in didn't react much.
People often went in hoping to get lucky and ask about vacancies, but they always returned empty-handed.
With such a nice hotel, who would easily check out once they managed to get a room?
After entering the hotel, the couple stared at the bright lobby and felt the comfortable temperature inside, their mouths agape with shock.
They had heard about the hotel's wonders before, but seeing it in person, they realized its magic far exceeded their expectations!
The inside of the hotel was like a different world compared to the outside!
They saw someone who looked like a receptionist sitting at the front desk and hurried over.
"Do you have any vacant rooms?" the woman asked hopefully. "We brought gold rings to exchange for points!"
"I'm sorry, there are no vacancies at the moment," said Fang Yang, who was on duty now. He smiled politely at the two. "We'll go out and notify people when rooms become available."
"Isn't there anyone checking out or anything? Not even one room?" the man asked, unwilling to give up.
"I'm afraid not," Fang Yang said good-naturedly.
He could understand the mentality of those people outside, all wanting to get in as soon as possible, so he didn't mind them asking a few more questions.
The man and woman both looked disappointed. The woman glanced at the sofas in the rest area and asked, "Can we rest there for a while? There's no one there anyway."
