Chapter 58 ancient clan move and the progress of the war
"It all started some eras ago. I am known as the Collector. I travel across worlds and universes, collecting souls and growing stronger... *cough*." Void smiled as he coughed.
"Wrong story, but I am a collector nonetheless. A collector of souls and a destroyer of worlds."
Void thought this with a serene smile, while Linkir, watching from behind, remained cold and distant.
The war between orcs and dragons had finally come to an end, with the dragons emerging victorious.
*Roarrrrr!*
The surviving dragons roared in triumph, their massive wings spreading as they prepared to head to the main battlefield. The remaining orcs scattered, fleeing in terror.
"Such sweet souls..." A voice echoed. All the dragons heard this just before a snap rang out.
*Snap!*
Fire surged from nowhere and everywhere, its heat unbearable.
*Roar...*
The dragons screamed as their bodies collapsed, turning to ash within seconds. The remaining orcs met the same fate, burning to nothingness.
A massive flow of souls rushed into Void's body as he checked his stats.
*(Ding)*
- **Host:** Void
- **Race:** Primordial Demon
- **Rank:** 2 (Quasi-Middle Level)
- **Height:** 125 meters
- **Strength:** Middle
- **Speed:** Middle
- **Stamina:** Low
- **Soul :** 2000 / 94,000 (all peak Rank 1 souls)
- **Blessing:** Son of the Abyss
- **Element:** Fire, Gravity, Wind
Void smiled as he examined his stats. Although technically only a low-level Rank 2 being, his blessing allowed him to reach quasi-middle level.
"Well..." Void squinted as he looked at the numbers. The souls of Rank 1 and Rank 0 beings were insignificant compared to a Rank 2 soul, showing just how wide the gap was between ranks.
"Back to the Giant King's abode," he said, rising into the air in his human form, with Linkir following silently behind.
---
**Meanwhile, on the battlefield...**
Shen Ye dashed through the outskirts of the giant and demon army, slaughtering the weak with ease, as befitting his Rank 1 status. Suddenly, a giant hit him.
*Boom!*
Shen Ye flew through the air, crashing into his own army. The giant stood 10 feet tall, its muscles rippling. It was the son of the Giant King.
Shen Ye struggled to his feet, pain shooting through his arms, as the giant charged again. Despite his attempts to counter the attacks, the giant's overwhelming strength turned him into little more than a ragdoll.
*Back behind the army...*
"Your child is quite strong," a demon commented, and the others nodded in agreement. The Giant King smiled lightly at the compliment.
"Yes, he certainly is," the king replied with a grin.
---
**Elsewhere...**
Chu Su, another noteworthy warrior, sliced through enemies with her blade, causing chaos across the battlefield. On the ship hovering above, the sect masters and elders observed the battle below, watching as their young warriors fought.
The humans were fewer in number but more powerful—just like the dragons.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"We aren't winning this," the Sword Demon declared suddenly, causing the sect masters to frown.
"We're winning now. Just look below," a sect master replied with a smug smile.
"Are you actually looking?" the Sword Demon asked. When the sect master took another glance, his smile faded. While it appeared they were winning, the sheer number of enemy forces was still overwhelming. Their elites hadn't even entered the fray yet.
At that moment, a portal opened, and a figure stepped out. Her feminine features were delicate, her beauty undeniable, but a sense of dread filled the air as everyone's hearts skipped a beat. This wasn't a simple aura; their bodies felt heavier.
"Mother," Sword Demon whispered as the woman turned toward him.
She was the sect master of the Quinlan Sect, Sword Demon's mother. Beside her stood a young girl.
"...Hi," the girl, Anya, managed to say, sensing the eyes of everyone on her.
"Wear this," Sword Demon instructed, and Anya quickly complied.
"Mother.. you're different," Sword Demon said, looking at his mother closely. The sect masters and elders sensed it too—this was no longer the same person.
"I've finally broken through," she announced, causing gasps all around.
"That's amazing! We can win this war now!" an elder exclaimed, and the room erupted in cheers.
Now, they had a real chance of defeating the demons and the giants.
Sword Demon's voice caught in his throat, his emotions welling up.
"It's okay, son. We'll do this together," his mother said, smiling as the elders crowded around her, eager to ask questions.
A rare smile appeared on Sword Demon's face. Though his mother hadn't reached Rank 3, her status as a Quasi Rank 3 being was still impressive—only their clan's ancestor had reached Rank 3. With his mother's experience, Sword Demon knew he could reach new heights, and the burden he'd been carrying seemed to lift.
"Hey, little girl," he called out to Anya, who had been standing quietly. She looked up, still shy and unsure.
"...Me?" Anya stammered, surprised.
Sword Demon frowned. There was something wrong with her. This wasn't just shyness; it was fear. Trauma.
"Are you okay?" he asked gently.
"I'm fine, sir... what's that noise?" Anya asked hesitantly.
"Oh, that? It's the sound of war," Sword Demon replied, watching as her expression changed.
"Can I see?" Anya asked, surprising him even more.
"I said war, not a game," Sword Demon answered, but her response startled him.
"I know... I love war," she said, and Sword Demon's face twitched in shock.
This girl was strange. Really strange.
Unable to shake the feeling, Sword Demon took a sip of wine as Anya walked to the edge of the ship and gazed down at the battlefield.
The sight of humans and other creatures fighting fascinated her. Despite the chaos, her body felt comfortable, as if the souls floating towards her were making her stronger.
Suddenly, she saw someone.
"Brother!" Anya shouted, and Sword Demon spit out his drink in shock.
"Your brother?" Sword Demon asked in shock.
"Yes, that's him... Brother!" Anya shouted as tears streamed down her cheeks.
Shen Ye, amidst the chaos of battle, turned his gaze upwards, locking eyes with his sister standing at the edge of the ship.
His heart raced, and his vision blurred. *Is that really my sister?* he asked himself.
With a powerful punch to the ground, he forced the 10-foot giant back, creating space. Shen Ye leaped upward, stretching his hand out toward her.
"Brother..." Anya called, her voice trembling. Shen Ye smiled, his sister right before him. Just as he was about to reach her, something pulled him back.
"No... no... NO!" Shen Ye roared in frustration, kicking the giant and using its massive body as leverage to launch himself upward again. He grabbed the edge of the ship, pulling himself up swiftly.
Standing on the ship, Shen Ye's face lit up with joy as he rushed toward Anya, embracing her tightly and lifting her off her feet.
Down below, Chu Su glanced up at the scene and smiled—a rare sight, her cold beauty enchanting those around her. The soldiers fighting nearby were briefly mesmerized by her charm before returning to the battle, spurred on by her example.
Sword Demon, watching the reunion from afar, couldn't help but laugh through his pain. "Sis, I'm so glad you're back," Shen Ye whispered, his voice choked with emotion.
"I... I missed you so much, big bro," Anya sobbed, her tears flowing freely.
"What a joyous event this is!" the sect master exclaimed, her voice filled with curiosity.
"The girl you brought is my disciple's sister," Sword Demon replied, not taking his eyes off the siblings, sipping his wine slowly.
"How... interesting," Sword Demon's mother chuckled, watching the touching scene unfold. Finally, Shen Ye kissed Anya's forehead gently.
"Thank you for this," Shen Ye said, overhearing the conversation between Sword Demon and the sect master.
"It's nothing. This is the first time I've seen that girl happy," the sect master replied, a warm smile on her face. Shen Ye smiled in return, while Sword Demon quietly sipped his wine.
---
Meanwhile, Void had reached the Giant King's empty abode. He stretched out on the massive bed, smiling to himself.
"Well, I've fulfilled my goal of taking a walk. Now... I'll just wait for the souls to arrive." He glanced toward Linkir and added casually, "I feel like having some meat. Go fetch it." Your next read awaits at empire
Linkir looked away, hesitating for a moment before replying, "Yes, master."
She flew out toward the forest, her expression hardening as a thought crossed her mind. *Your death is coming, Void.* She sped up, her resolve strengthening.
---
Back on the battlefield, the 10-foot giant was wreaking havoc, his immense size and strength unmatched now that the stronger opponents were occupied.
"Shen Ye, sorry to cut your reunion short, but you have someone to deal with below," Sword Demon called out with a chuckle.
"Right, I'll handle it," Shen Ye replied with a smile, his heart lighter. He turned to Anya and said gently, "Stay here for a while, okay?"
"But... brother..." Anya began, tears welling up again.
"I promise I'll be back soon," Shen Ye reassured her, flashing a smile before jumping off the ship.
"Please... come back, brother," Anya thought, watching as her brother dove back into the fray.
"I'll finish this quickly... my sister is waiting for me. And Void... you will still die," Shen Ye muttered under his breath as he charged toward the giant.
*Boom! Boom!*
Two loud impacts echoed as Shen Ye struck the giant with such force that it slid hundreds of meters, carving deep trenches into the earth.
"You are a worthy warrior," the giant rumbled, impressed by Shen Ye's strength.
"And you are a dead man," Shen Ye retorted with a smirk, dodging the giant's next attack and countering with precise blows.
---
Back on the ship, another portal opened. Vibrant life energy poured out as a stunning figure emerged—a beautiful elf with long ears and a curvaceous figure. Her lips curved into a mischievous smile as she approached Sword Demon.
"Hey, sweetie," she called out, her voice sultry as she sauntered forward.
"...Cough," Sword Demon cleared his throat, but his mother swiftly stepped in, blocking the elf's view of her son.
"Move," the elf demanded, her tone sharp, but the sect master glared at her.
"You vixen," Sword Demon's mother growled, her anger rising.
"Hehe... What? Your son is sweet," the elf teased, moving to the side.
"Leave now!" the sect master ordered, her patience wearing thin.
"Why would I? Your son hasn't reached the required level yet. We can't wait any longer," the elf's voice shifted, becoming deep and menacing. Without warning, she launched a powerful punch at Sword Demon's mother.
Seeing the attack, Sword Demon sprang into action, throwing a punch of her own.
*Boom!*
A massive shockwave erupted, shaking the entire area and destroying the ship they were on. In the chaos, Sword Demon flew through the air, catching Anya before she could fall.
"They don't even keep their promises anymore. Despicable," Sword Demon muttered, his anger boiling over.
---
Far away, the Giant King sensed his other flags transporting souls and issued a command.
"Attack."
At his order, the rank 2 giants surged forward, bypassing the lower-ranked battles, aiming directly for the crash site where the humans were distracted by another being.
