A random pokemon journey

Salty showdown

Salty showdown

When the time finally arrived I headed for the harbor and found a ship heading to Mossdeep to hitch a ride on. It was a small thing with not more than ten people aboard with at least five being trainers to ward off any open water threats. I'm not talking exclusively about pokemon either but pirates and raiders as well. The difference between those two groups was that one won't kill you unless absolutely necessary and the other might just because they want to. The league was helpless to deal with these groups for the most part as they operated on the open sea with hidden bases on wild islands far from the regulated and "safe" waters.-

Wild lands are a BIG difference from the games as being an actual world there were places beyond the league influenced or controlled regions. These are called wild lands or unknown lands and have as the name suggests unknown evolutions , resources and dangers. They are such big unknowns in fact that the league itself warns heavily not to try and reach these places unless you are a champion with a powerful well balanced team. Even these two sea faring groups only inhabit the coastal areas of the islands they are on for fear of what lay deeper in.-

Why am I bringing this up you may be asking? Well having the absolute shit luck with criminals that I do I just so happened to be on a boat that a set of raiders were targeting. Even worse that the only heavy hitter I had able to battle on the boat was Hades and it was not exactly having the best time of it. The raiders as you might guess employed many water type pokemon and on the sea that was a problem.-

These guys were pros too as they had jammed the signal out here so I couldn't call in back up either. The trainers on the boat were trying their hardest to protect it but we were out numbered and at a heavy disadvantage since we were the defenders. "That's it boys I can almost smell that payday now!" the leader of the raiders barked out with a laugh. It was a gruff looking man with missing teeth and a big belly. Hades was dealing with his pokemon which was a large elite tier Walrein that was frustrating my ghost to no end by using the sea to pop up and take a potshot before vanishing again.-

We were holding our own but the other trainers on the boat weren't having a good time as they were dealing with the raiders less trained but more numerous pokemon. The leader only had this one pokemon from what I could see but it was clear that he sank all of his resources into it rather than spreading them out on multiple pokemon. I wanted to release Rune the electrify the waters but if I did that it would also kill the engine that was keeping us from being boarded as we tried to retreat.-

If we were on land I would jump in to take care of the human raiders with my spear but if I threw it right now I would likely never find it again. I did have an idea that may work though as I released Vulcan onto the deck. "Well looky here lads , theres a right tough customer amongst these fish there is! But the lad seems a we bit confused as a fire types got no place on the sea." the leader said with a mocking expression when Vulcan appeared.-

I ignored that however and got real close to Vulcan before whispering my plan in it's ear. Vulcan nodded before the air turned scorching around it as fire type energy started to gather and condense in it's chest. The leader looked at this with a confused expression as like he said fire type moves were pretty much pointless on the sea. "Fire blast!" I commanded after Vulcan looked to be struggling to contain the power it gathered. The moment Vulcan opened it's mouth all hell broke loose as an orb of highly condensed fire type energy formed and shot out across the water, straight at the raiders ship.-

I stole Gaia's all or nothing attack idea from when we battled that Heatran told Vulcan to use every once of power it had while aiming for the raiders ship. The coldness of the sea that had seamed into the raiders ship met with the intense heat of a volcano and destruction ensued. The leader eyes widened to the point of almost popping out when the attack was launched but before he could order the helmsman to evade the attack struck and exploded as the move was intended. The front bottom of the raiders ship basically ceased to exist as the heat melted and burnt it all away in an instant.-

"RAHAHAHA! You can go wild with the best lad! If you ever find yourself in Blacktooth look up Captain Ben and I'll treat ya to a pint!" the leader said with a laugh as they raider stopped pursuing us to deal with the issue of their ship taking on heavy amounts of water. Vulcan was totally drained after that attack and I recalled it to get some rest while Hades needed my full attention because it was still in seek and destroy mode and I needed to bring it down to calmness again.-

The other trainers on the ship gave me respectful nods before tending to their pokemon that were injured and exhausted. It took me about ten minutes to coax Hades back to a normal state of mind and another ten after that to allow me to help heal the other pokemon on the ship that got injured. The rest of the trip to Mossdeep was thankfully quiet and we arrived weary but no worse for wear. Mossdeep island was a place that had lush grass and beautiful flowers all over the place and was a popular place to retire as a result. -

At the highest point of the island was the space exploration station that specialized in studying the cosmos. The "city" on the island was not the bustling place with modern buildings you would expect but rather a place with small single family traditional stone and wood homes dominating the whole place minus the harbor and warehouse districts. The only real modern buildings were the gym and the pokecenter. 'I can see why Steven has his home here, it's nice.' I thought honestly as I smelled the fragrance of flowers and salty sea air mixed to form an unique but not unpleasant fragrance.-

I didn't immediately go and capture the old woman handler or destroy the three depots on the island as I wanted to go check in with Tate and Liza first since the twins were the gym leader here and it would be rude to move like that on their territory. They might be only twelve but both of them were very mature due to being psychics and were specialized in that typing as well. They were the youngest gym leaders in the world but also some of the most unique due to the fact that they only had double battles.
