Chapter 137: Blood Scroll
Chapter 137: Blood Scroll
However, Cynthia plainly ignored him.
"You low-level group of degenerate peoples can never understand my deviation. For me, he is absolute and infinite. A concept that not everyone understands but those who do are lifted from mortal to devotees."
"..."
"...."
"What crap is this Cynthia? We are his followers, and we have no right to obsess over our lord" The old man said through gritted teeth but when Cynthia heard it, she flew in rage.
"I told you that you wouldn't be able to understand so it's useless to tell you anything. You all are nothing but a bunch of morons. I will kill each one of them who dis-obeys my lord's wishes. For once I can bear my insult, but I will never hesitate to kill anyone who dares to question my lord."
Pak!
The old man slapped Cynthia so hard that she was tossed on the ground. She had an incredible expression on her face. It was evident that she has never been touched by anyone. Hurt and anger filled her eyes, but she strengthened herself and tried her best to stop her tears that were on the brink to lose out.
The old man left the room.
Vlass was too afraid to share the same roof with Cynthia thus he too left with the old man. That was a scary night. No one knows what happened but after that night Cynthia changed completely. Earlier she was a little girl who was quiet but now she became a girl with absolute quietness. Unless necessary she didn't utter even a word. After a few months, the old man died due to his long-term illness followed by injured Marquis.
----------------
"...."
Severus didn't quite grasp what was going on.
"I am afraid that night was the night when your mother had her first attack. Maybe the old man guessed it but who knows. I remember your mother hiding a blood scroll in her desk. I smacked that out when your mother died but it's useless since it can be only opened by her blood"
As Vlass said this he sighed but before he could complete his sigh his body jolted. A lightning idea suddenly struck him.
"Severus"
"HMM?"
"Maybe you can try it?"
"Try what?"
"Try opening the blood scroll"
Huh
Vlass went hot on his heels and swiftly brought a red scroll from his compartment. The scroll was exceptionally red with black shades all over it. It looked kind of creepy.
Class handed Scroll to Severus as he took it swiftly. Using his sharp ring Severus made a cut on his thumb and poured his drops of blood on the scroll. Black smoke instantly started emerging from the scroll but strangely it didn't burn it but when Vlass tried to touch it the black fire resisted his touch and hurt him in the process. Vlass took a step back when he saw what was happening. Somehow Severus felt a strong affinity with the scroll. His fingers moved by themselves as he opened the scroll. His eyes bulged out when he read its content.
Vlass saw how shocked Severus behaved. He tried peeking on the scroll but all he could see was strange words written on it. He wondered whether Severus was shocked by the strange letters or was he really blue to understand this language.
"This. It can't be possible"
"What's written in there?"
Severus took deep breaths to calm himself down.
"It says."
Love is a temporary madness; it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides. And when it subsides, you must decide. You must work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part. Because this is what love is. Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of promises of eternal passion, it is not the desire to mate every second minute of the day, it is not lying awake at night imagining that he is kissing every cranny of your body. No, do not blush, I am telling you some truths. That is just being "in love", which any fool can do. Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.
I swear on my blood that I will be Hades no matter what I need to sacrifice]
"This doesn't make anything clear" Vlass said in confusion.
"Wait" Server suddenly shouted as Vlass was going to snatch the scroll.
"What?"
Severus ignored Vlass as he grabbed the Scroll tightly while he closed his eyes absorbing those dark flames. Suddenly Severus saw a scene in his unconsciousness.
A petite looking girl was sitting on a cliff while the silver moon was hanging high up in the sky. The moonlight shone on her flawless white skin but despite being a beauty an aura of loneliness surrounded her. Sadness was radiating from her while her eyes turned hollow. There was no water present. Severus saw that the girl was mumbling something, so he tried focusing on it. Soon he managed to hear what she was murmuring.
A sorrowful voice laced with intense regret was heard.
Why?
Why me?
Why can't I deserve Love?
We all do things in life that we regret. We also do things in life that make us proud of the people that we are. Still, there are things in life that we hope to someday be able to do. All these things make up who we are and how we have come to be ourselves. Occasionally we would like to change the past because of regrets, though this would completely change who we are. Everyone has had to deal with some form of regret. It is impossible to go through life without making a wrong decision or saying something they wish they hadn 't. These mistakes remind us that we are human, and we cannot do everything right all the time.
The things that make people who they are can be very complicated, being built from many experiences and events. People like to say things about how the past is just the past and it does not affect them now, or about how they do not have any regrets. Regrets are a necessary part of becoming a better person. The regrets and events of our lives are what makes us, us. We would not be the same person if we lived in a vacuum with no outside forces acting upon it. We are based on events and those events define who we are. How we react to trauma, how we choose to stand once we fall to make us who we are, and the idea that events in your life do not affect who you are as a person is incredibly naive.
But the thing is do I regret anything?
Maybe yes.
I regret falling for the wrong person
I regret lowering my standards
I regret losing focus and accepting no fixed plans
I regret accepting take it as it goes attitude
I regret wasting time
I regret believing their version of the story. Always it convenient to represent the positive side
I regret not noticing when words and deeds were not matching
I regret everything. I regret meeting your Marquis, I really do!
You cheated me but worry not I will not let you off the hook so easily. You sure do take me as a fool. The first time you came to me I was aware that you were after that power, but you know what? Even after knowing everything I foolishly believed you. I believed that love could conquer every obstacle, but I forgot that maybe love can overcome everything but it's extremely powerless in face of greed.
You were nothing but a greedy bastard and I will make sure to give back ten floods no hundred folds of the pain that you have inflicted on me. Just who do you take me for? I am Cynthia, the sole heir of Frost legion who is blessed by the darkest blood with the immense power of necromancy.
You just wait, you bastard!
With this, the girl stood up in anger as she gazed at the moon with determination. Her entire aura changed suddenly leaving nothing but blood lust.
Severus opened his eyes promptly.
"What was there inside its Severus?"
"There was nothing but regret"
Hmm?
"Tell me Vlass why do people regret and even if they do is there anything to overcome it"
Vlass was perplexed with the flow of talking. He was a noob in all these matters thus he denied everything but on second thought he agreed to answer this question. Maybe he can understand regret because he had his own regrets in life.
"At its core, regret can be viewed as your mind ruminating over a missed opportunity. Whether you didn't do something and now wish that you had, or you did something and now wish that you hadn't, your choice of action or inaction directly led to the feeling you are now experiencing. Think through the circumstances under which you made the choice that you made. What was your hoped-for outcome? What external factors influenced your decision? Did you, deep down, believe that your choice was the best, or simply the easiest? Every decision has a myriad of consequences, both good and bad. When you have regret, the negative consequences become stuck at the forefront of your mind. Yet many times, we can directly trace something good that is happening now to a seemingly poor choice in the past."
