Chapter 11: Delicacies
Chapter 11: Delicacies
"The essence of the independent mind lies not in what it thinks, but in how it thinks."
By Christopher Hitchens
---------------
Severus quickly washed up and went to the living room where the old monk was sitting leisurely. A table full of delicacies was spread and it looked like a feast. That old monk sure has a good diet despite his old age, Severus remarked.
Although the food looked delicious, Severus still had some doubts, so he asked, "You made all these?"
"No, I ordered them", the monk replied casually, sipping his tea.
"Severus"...."
"Why did you order so much? Even I am not sure if we can finish it together."
"Tch. tch. what a waste of food"
Severus disapproved.
"Aren't you delusional, my boy? Did you misunderstand me? oh I guess you did. This table full of delicacies is not for you instead they are for me."
"Since I helped you yesterday, my energy level got depleted drastically so I ordered a bit extra to recharge me up fully. Don't mind me. You come here and dine with me."
Severus"...."
What the hell. All these tasty foods won't go into my tummy.
Bohhoooo!
Such a heartless monk.
Severus cursed him 100 times inside his head but in the end, he nodded and went ahead to sit with him.
"What am I supposed to eat, if not them? "Severus asked in a low voice.
The old monk was greedily gobbling the food when he heard Severus' question. He just lazily pointed at the corner of the table instead of saying anything.
When Severus looked in the direction where the monk pointed, he was creeped out from his bones.
Fooooker, what the hell is that dish?
There he saw a ceramic bowl full of soup.
Well, the bowl was not anything creepy but the soup which it contained looked no less than poison.
The soup was dark green in color which almost looked like black. To make it look grosser, there were even two eggs inside the soup. The bowl was white in color which stood out in contrast with the soup making it look more unappetizing.
"Is this soup?"
"Is your eyesight week? Can't you see the liquid inside the bowl? Of course. It's soup." Monk replied annoyingly.
"Sigh. It's been years since I tasted mortal food. Damn. It's so tasty. I want to gobble it all but this punk here disturbing me every now and then" Monk humped in annoyance.
"I dare you to call this a soup"
"Are you sure you aren't feeding me poison or water from the nearby gutter you old monk", Severus screamed?
Thud!
The old monk dropped his cup on the table. He fiercely looked at Severus," What did you say? I dare you to repeat your sentence, again mortal"
The old monk lectured harshly.
"You don't know how to appreciate help huh? Fine by me. Feel free to not drink this soup"
With this said, the old monk left the room.
Severus"..."
"Noworry what the hell happened, just now?"
[Don't you have eyes and a brain to see and understand or have you become dumb?]
"You too noworry. What the fuck happened when I was unconscious? Why did you change so much? I am hurt, my heart is bleeding because of the invisible stab you which you gave me"
[Stab, Invisible... Baka. What nonsense you are spouting boy?] Noworry rolled his eyes.
"So you know, what nonsense is. Good, now do me the honor and tell me about this drama. " Severus asked in full seriousness.
He was glaring at noworry, even if noworry wanted to stall this confrontation, this was not the time to stall.
[Have you ever heard about the book called, Ophelius]
"Yes, I did. But as far as I remember it is a myth and several folklores are made from that topic", Severus laughed in amusement.
[What if I told you that it isn't a myth? In this world, there is such a book which holds immense power]
"You.... No... No..you are lying", Severus stuttered.
Astonishment, disbelief, and various emotions came on Severus' face.
His complexion went from pale to deathly pale.
"[asy boy. Take it easy]
"Damn. How can you advise me to take it easy? Have you become muddle-headed or delusional like him?", Severus screamed.
[SEVERUS, I advise you to keep your voice low. Just think before you are speaking and at the least take note of whom you are speaking to. You are lucky that it was me if it was anyone else you would have probably been slaughtered]
Severus"...."
"Is voicing out our opinions wrong?" Severus asked seriously.
Noworry [...]
[No, it's not wrong, but ...damn it]
[How the heck you managed to live inside the main palace, if you can't understand when to speak and when to not, Severus] Noworry cursed him.
A silly but sad smile crept on the corners of Severus' lips, "I never spoke or denied any request, Noworry"
Why do I feel sad?
Sigh
I can't scold this guy.
Noworry pitied Severus.
