Chapter 100: Hidden Power Potential and Flint (Edited)

"Hmm, What you have said, does make sense.", said Mark.

"Right? Why have we never thought of this before?", Axel asked in excitement

"We have never thought about this before cause there is nothing to think about.", replied Mark

"What do you mean?"

"Since you are a young trainer, you may not have heard a lot about 'Hidden power' cause there is not much to even think about. There is no set training exercise to awaken 'Hidden power'. Cause nobody knows, what type of 'Hidden power' the Pokemon has. So, any rational trainer would not waste their time trying to learn attacks from all 18 types. So, it happens at random.

And even if a Pokemon randomly awakens 'Hidden power', it had been proven that the power of hidden power is much less than its original counterpart.

For example, If a Charizard awakens its hidden power in water type, the power of its water type attacks would be much lower than its fire-type attacks. This is the reason that no one wants to capitalize on this move."

"Maybe the power of hidden power is lying dormant even if it is awakened. So, it may need a little push to be much more effective.", hypothesized Axel.

"Hmm... Maybe you are right. But if it is true, for our theory to properly work, we must figure out how to identify the type of hidden power a Pokemon has."

"Yes. That is true. Maybe we can make a device that could accurately tell the type of hidden power of a Pokemon.", recommended Axel.

"We could but it would be hard. The device has to delicately......."

The talk went on for an hour. At last, they came to the conclusion that they should be able to make a device that could tell the type of hidden power a Pokemon has. But it may take years to succeed.

###

After the talk, Axel got up to find the branch of 'Pokemon Traders'. Axel may be rich now but he had came from a middle-class family and would never stop to earn some money. So, during his travels, he caught a lot of Pokemons to sell. Around 40 of them and of various types. None of them were of any good potential. So he decided to sell all of them and made a good sum of 2 million Poke Dollars.

After some earnings, he decided to have a good meal so he found a branch of Brew'd Awakening. Before a couple of months, eating in this restaurant would have been a small dream for Axel but now it was possible. The interior was lavishly designed to give a good feeling.

He looked at the menu and ordered some Pidgeot Meat for himself. He also ordered the respective type of Pokemon meat for each of his Pokemon.

Just as he was about to take his first bite, he heard a voice from another table.

###

"Damn, that Flint is so freaking powerful. He swiped my whole team with his Aerodactyl. I thought having a single rare ranked Pokemon was enough."

"Well then, what could you say about my destruction? I had 3 rare ranked Pokemons and only his 2 Pokemons were enough to obliterate me."

Axel then stood up from his table and went to their table for a small talk.

"Hello, Did you have a gym battle with Flint, The current rock-type Gym leader?"

"And who are you?"

"I am Axel Blaze. I was thinking of challenging Flint in the coming days."

"Don't get your hopes up, dude. By the way, my name is Kato and he is Batris."

"Hi", said Batris

"Hi, so could you tell me something about him? It would help me a lot if I could know about him before the fight"

"Only if you pay for our meals.", said Batris

"Deal"

"Really?", asked Batris with a surprised look. Brew'd Awakening was a high-class restaurant that normal people cannot afford. So Batris was a little surprised when he heard that he would get a free meal.

"Alright then"

After hearing the miserable story of the 2 strangers/ friends (now), Axel came to the conclusion that:- Gym battles were freaking hard.

"It was not like his Pokemons were more powerful than ours. The difference in strength was not too much. However, the way he uses his Pokemon and the strategy to counter our moves were much higher level."

"Yes, I will say the same about him. Though he was only using rare-ranked Pokemon, his experience was what made us lose. How many rare ranked Pokemons do you have now?"

"Only 2", said Axel.

"Then I suggest you to at least have 3 rare ranked Pokemons and train those 2 current rare ranked Pokemons much better before challenging him."

"Yes, I would suggest the same"

###

At first, Axel had thought to challenge the gym, the next day. Beedrill may not be a rare ranked Pokemon but it was almost there. Shedinja and Nidorino were more powerful than a normal rare-ranked Pokemon so he thought to try his luck. But now, he thought to diligently train his Pokemon for a month before challenging the gym.

Axel went near the training ground of Pewter City. He looked around and opened all of his Pokeballs. Shedinja was always hiding in the shadow of Axel.

First of all, he told the current battle powers of Flint to his team and urged them to train hard. He didn't want to lose his first gym battle.

###

The next day, both of Beedrill's 'Calm mind' and 'Minimize' reached level 10 and got the 'understanding' mastery level. Axel now told Beedrill to do the same training of his minimization theory.

And the results were promising. Beedrill could control its minimization to 10 feet and hold it for a few seconds before it came back to normal. This was pretty good.

And thus began a 1-month training program for Axel's team.
