141. Team Kakashi’s first C

Konoha, right after Team Yamato got their C-ranked Mission.

Kakashi stood by as Naruto threw a tantrum inside the Hokage’s office. He expected as much taking into consideration Naruto’s childish demeanor and his delusions of grandeur. That is not to say he believes Naruto to be a bad child per se, just an annoying, immature and… well childish one. 

However, that didn’t mean Kakashi didn’t find the situation troublesome. Not only was he assigned to take care of a bunch of brats but he would also be berated later for the behavior of said brats. All he wanted at that moment would be to relax and read his favorite book. Thinking about it, he couldn't wait until Jiraiya would release his next book. Suddenly he was brought out of his thoughts by the Hokage’s next words.

“Alright, I understand.” At that moment Kakashi became a bit wary. Not many knew this but the old man liked to mess with the younger generations. 

“If you insist… I will let you take a C-ranked mission.” Hearing the old man's words, Kakashi felt like sighing. In his opinion his team wasn’t ready for a C-ranked mission. They had some team work but nothing exceptional. Their skills were subpar except for Sasuke. Overall, they were a mess. 

“You will have to escort someone” Kakashi felt exhausted just thinking about it. Even though it is just a C-ranked mission, meaning at most they would need to fight some bandits. He would be doing most if not all of the work. 

“Really? Who is it? Who is it?” Naruto felt elated he would have such an important mission.

“A king? or maybe a princess?” Kakashi hearing this let a discreet sigh escape his lips. This would truly be a pain to deal with. 

“Don’t get ahead of yourself, I will introduce them right away. You may enter...” With that the side door opened and a tall slim man wearing round glasses came in.  

“So these will be my escorts? I hope they are up to standard” Said the man looking down at the group of kids in front of him. 

“I also hope they are professional enough not to mess up since I shall be conducting some delicate research.” Once again his words held a tinge of derision towards the kids. He knew pretty well who would be doing the actual work in the group. 

Hearing the mockery in his words Naruto was one step away from exploding. Even more after the man simply ignored them and looked Kakashi straight in the eyes when he talked next. 

“My name is Yosuke. A researcher on medicine from the land of medicine. Something interesting seems to have happened in my homeland and so I require your aid in reaching it safe and sound.” He took a moment to fix the position of his glasses before continuing. 

“You will also guard me while I conduct my research for a while.” He nodded towards Kakashi before looking at the group of kids again. 

“I hope you won't disappoint.” It was more than obvious he didn’t expect much from the genins.   

A grinding noise could be clearly heard as Naruto did so with his teeth. He wanted to beat up this pompous man to a pulp however somehow he managed to keep it in, if barely. 

“Understood, we will be leaving early tomorrow if that isn’t a problem.” Seeing Naruto about to explode, Kakashi decided to end this here. 

“None at all.” Like that the man turned around and left. Meanwhile Kakashi and his team took their leave a few moments later. Kakashi for his part felt exhausted just thinking about keeping Naruto in check. While Naruto couldn't wait to go and eat his favorite ramen.
