Chapter 478: Cool Gals Watch Explosions
Chapter 478: Cool Gals Watch Explosions
Saint Figarland Garling was mildly annoyed.
The Revolutionary Army had actually dared to attack the holy land Mary Geoise. Not just that, but the incompetent fools in the royal guard still hadn't caught even a single one of the culprits!
If it were himself he would have rounded up the miscreants a long time ago, and he wouldn't have broken a sweat doing it!
Alas, it was not his place. The God Knights only moved under orders from the five elders. As the supreme commander of the order, he was naturally not exempt from this; if anything, it applied to him doubly so!
Still, he had a funny feeling that this was not as simple as it seemed. A little tickle from the baser instincts that he definitely didn't have as an ascended being above the common human filth. It nagged at him incessantly, begging him to take action. He would not.
Some small part of him wished that he would, though. There was more to this situation than met the eye and he wanted to jam whatever that more was right into his sockets! It was infuriating! Mildly.
"Perhaps I can go for a stroll," Garling told himself. He was absolutely not giving in to the temptation of his curiosity, nor was he hoping some foolish rebel would try their luck against his blade.
"Are... you sure that's wise, Saint Figarland-" No sooner had the words left the royal guard's mouth did he find his tongue separated from his body, followed right after by his head. There was not a scratch on his helmet afterwards.
The other one said nothing and simply fell into step with Garling. He'd been one of Garling's tagalongs for about six years now, the longest any of them have ever lasted without getting reassigned or dismissed. He had a good head on his shoulders for a disgusting human, so Garling wondered how long it would take until he needed to change that.
...
'That guy is dangerous,' Cherry observed the celestial dragon whose hair and beard were shaped like a big crescent moon.
She didn't mean that in the sense that he was strong, though he certainly was. What she meant was that he wasn't someone that she could predict. Everything about the guy screamed "I'm a walking, talking contradiction!"
Guys like that were the worst. They'd play with their own perception of reality like a ball of clay, shaping it however they wished to fit whatever bullshit reasoning they had going on in their little heads.
If you cornered someone like that, it was as likely that they'd lash out at anyone nearby out of spite as it was for them to accept the offer you didn't make to join them in bed. She had had both of those things happen to her before, on the rare occasions that she went out adventuring in the realms.
'Right, stay away from that one if at all possible," Cherry decided and slipped away into the shadows.
--
"I've got a bad feeling about this, bro," a tall purple haired man with a twiddly mustache said.
"I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, bro," a shorter, more rotund man with a scraggly beard said. "They've got the royal guards stationed outside to protect us."
"Well, sure, but I don't think that's it," the taller brother said, rubbing his chin.
"It's probably because the revolutionaries raided the food stores, and the two of you are chefs here," a third voice reasoned.
"Right, that's it! What in the world are we going to serve the esteemed celestial dragons if they take all the food away?" the taller brother agreed.
"Who are you?" the squat brother asked, narrowing his eyes at the woman who was strikingly familiar to him, though he couldn't quite remember where he'd seen her before.
"That's unimportant," Cherry waved off the question, then cut off the squat man before he could say anything further, "What's important is that the celestial dragons aren't going to take it well if you can't offer the menus that they're used to. When that happens, well, you'd be lucky to just lose your jobs and not your heads."
"'"'Wha-?!"" both brothers gasped in realization. They had received complaints in the past when celestial dragons received exactly what they ordered, so it wasn't difficult to imagine their reactions to a food shortage. ""What are we going to do?!""
"I'd suggest you make up an excuse about going to preemptively procure additional ingredients, then never be seen again," Cherry offered.
"But... we've built up such a reputation! How can we just abandon all that we've built here?!" the taller brother demanded.
"They've forgiven us before for other offenses. All we gotta do is grovel and placate them!" the squat brother voiced his ingenious idea.
Cherry blinked at the brothers nodding at each other. They turned their gazes on her, the question of her identity appearing in their eyes again.
*sigh* "You just had to make this difficult, didn't you?" Cherry rubbed the space between her eyes.
The brothers' eyes widened in alarm, before they rolled back in their sockets. They both slumped to the ground unconscious revealing Cherry standing behind them as she brushed her hands together.
"Now then, what kind of spices do the celestial dragons pretend to understand the complexities of?" Cherry raided the kitchen for everything of value, spices and equipment included.
"What the hell? Why do they have so many frozen, bite-sized battered chicken pieces in here?" Cherry said as she poked through a massive walk-in freezer. "There must be literal tons of these things in here! Oh, these ones are shaped like dinosaurs. I'll take those for the boys back home, thank you very much."
She didn't think Sanji would want most of these... nuggets of chicken, but she took it all in the end anyway. If nothing else, there would be some poor saps in Wano who'd eat them.
--
Far away, Saint Charlos was sitting in a cushy holding cell and felt a shiver down his spine. "No, it can't be... It can't be! Guards, I sense that my nuggies are in danger! You have to save them! I'll starve to death!"n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
...
Cherry left the kitchen, dragging the two brothers out behind her. The two of them were covered in flour for some reason, but that was none of their concern at the moment. She dumped them into some bushes behind the building before turning around to look into the
interior.
A thick cloud of flour obscured her view of anything inside, but that was okay since there wouldn't be anything left in a second. With a snap of her fingers-
*ZAP*
-an electric spark flew from her hand and ignited the dusty cloud.
*BOOM!!!*
A concussive blast and roaring flames consumed the building. In a few minutes, it would be nothing more than a smoldering wreckage.
Cherry stuck around to watch for a few seconds before she realized that the moon hair guy was heading in this direction suddenly and decided to skedaddle.
"That was pretty cool. I should blow things up more often!" Cherry told herself. "I wonder if they'll let me blow up Kaido's castle after the war is over?"
